Edinburgh and The Lothians boasts many of the best golf courses in Scotland - from Archerfield, Muirfield, Gullane & Longniddry in the Golf Coast of East Lothian, to Bathgate, Dalmahoy & West Lothian in the West, and the many fine courses in the City of Edinburgh including Royal Burgess, Mortonhall, Craigmillar Park & Bruntsfield.
Turnhouse Golf Course came into being in 1897, initially only extending to nine holes, when members of Lothian golf club (established 1893) became dissatisfied of sharing Musselburgh Links with other non-course owning Clubs. Recognising the value for ease of access of a recently built Railway halt in those days of largely horse-drawn transport, they leased land from the tenant of Turnhouse farm.
New laws came into force in 2003 which require all organisations involved with children to have a Policy and Procedures to protect children from all forms of abuse. Abuse includes emotional abuse, neglect, physical abuse, sexual abuse, discrimination and bullying.
Turnhouse Golf Club Ltd. have now got a Policy and Procedures and have included this Section to help their junior members understand what is expected of those people directly involved in supervising them during their golfing activities.Anyone helping with juniors will have been checked to see if they have any previous history which would make them unsuitable.

Golf is a dangerous sport and all persons stepping on to the course, putting greens and practice areas must be aware of the dangers and act accordingly. You should read and act upon the safety advice in the Etiquette section of the Rules of Golf and must obey all directional signage and other safety notices particularly when using buggies or trolleys.
The purpose of this code of practice is to support the Turnhouse Golf Club's First Aid Policy to ensure that all trained First Aid employees are aware of the requirements relating to the use of Automated External Defibrillators (known as AEDs) at locations listed in Appendix 7.1.
Other members of the University may also be called upon to act in an emergency and so additional awareness training is provided (although this will not be a mandatory requirement, it is likely that many will want this knowledge and information to gain familiarisation and confidence in the use of the AEDs).AED - Automated External Defibrillator; a machine that delivers a controlled electric shock to the heart when someone's heart is fibrillating.
