All that we make is bespoke. Our one-off pieces are made especially to customer commission and for our shop display selection. Services
An accomplished and naturally creative designer, Rose is our passionate front of house. Her career began at one of the most celebrated jewellery houses in Pretoria, South Africa. Here she studied Gemstones, Diamonds and Pearls whilst designing a fascinating array of pieces for international clients.
We creatively design and traditionally hand-craft one of a kind jewellery in our shop just a stone's throw from Canterbury Cathedral. Ortwin Thyssen Master Jewellery Makers is the inimitable creative partnership of Husband and Wife, Designer and Goldsmith, Rose Citton and Andr Viljoen. As a Designer with an in depth knowledge of Gemstones and Diamond grading, Rose loves to combine ideas and inspirations in colour and flowing movement.
Commissioning a design with us is a magical experience that culminates in a timeless piece of art that you will treasure forever. Once you are delighted with the design, Rose will share the creative vision with Andr.

The staff couldn’t be more friendly or helpful. Their care for your items and passion in their work really does show through. They did an absolute beautiful job repairing and resizing a ring I inherited - originally belonging to my great grandmother and they completely understood the sentimental value of this ring. It needed a lot of TLC and they just went above and beyond. I would recommend Ortwin Thyssen to anyone. Thank you.

Ortwin Thyssen are absolutely fantastic. I ordered a custom pendant as a Christmas present for my partner - it is beyond beautiful. The care and attention paid during the designing process was wonderful, the communication clear and the end result could not have been better. This review is a long time coming! I had an engagement ring made in 2009, it was an Irish Claddagh ring, the level of detail was amazing, it has been a taking point in many other jewellers over the years when we get it assessed for insurance purposes.
The ring is amazing but comes second in quality when compared to the staff, they all were amazing. If you want a special piece made there is no place else I would recommend. These people are true masters of their craft.

Fantastic jewellers, a very helpful and creative team. We are extremely happy with my wife's engagement ring and our wedding rings. We were pleased with the attentiveness and care that all the staff showed us and extremely happy with the amazing creativity in their design of my wife's engagment ring which Andy made. We went back for the wedding rings to be made; Julia designed the wedding ring to complement my wife's engagement ring fantastically, and she was helpful in choosing the right band for my own (albeit a much simpler job!).
