There are fantastic views from the garden where you can sit and enjoy a cold platter of seafood, washed down with one of our ever changing range of Real Ales or a glass of wine from our of specially chosen selection. The Rosebud is a family run restaurant overlooking Brightlingsea Creek and with views to the open sea beyond.
Fresh fish is delivered daily from the market. Although we specialise in seafood (fish and shellfish), we do provide alternative dishes such as steaks, chicken, salads, soups, pasta and veggie options for those who prefer something else.

Services
We are situated on Hurst Green in Brightlingsea, which is near to Colchester, Wivenhoe, Clacton and just over the water from Mersea. Due to availability, some of our dishes may change at short notice. PLEASE NOTE: Our menu changes regularly, therefore this menu may be different to the one available on the day of your visit.
We serve an ever changing selection of real ales and have a really decent fine wine menu, specially selected to suit the food dishes we serve. We keep our prices very reasonable. The pub is kept warm by an open log fire which burns continuously from the onset of Autumn, through winter and into early spring.
We are seeking a Chef that is competent in Fresh Seafood to work alongside our existing team. With a working life balance of 3-4 days a week (will include evenings and alternate weekends off)You will be required to maintain the high standards in place. You will also have the flexibility to design, create and implement your own dishes and styles on our menu which changes most days.

There were 6 of us, including a small child & a baby. We were made very welcome & all had superb meals.
My husband hasn't stopped talking about his amazing roast with pork.
My daughter in law said it was the best fish pie she has ever had.
The staff were all so friendly & accommodating. Will definitely return.
There were lovely real ales too

You just have to go here. The staff are absolutely wonderful. Great selection of beer and wine. Hubby loved the pale ale and the Chardonnay was chilled to perfection and gorgeous. Food absolutely sensational especially, and I can't believe I'm saying this. The Price - fantastic value, service , ambience and position - garden overlooking The Hard . Can't wait to return. I have to say the weather was fantastic during our stay, which always helps

I came across this place on Google while holidaying on the Essex coast. Made to feel very welcome, myself, wife and dog, as soon as we arrived. Served by a through professional, I'm afraid I didn't catch the lady's name. Views over the Brightlingsea Marina from the conservatory are stunning. And finally the food...it was first class, absolutely beautiful!
If you are ever in this part of the UK then I would highly recommend that you put a visit to The Rosebud on to your list of priorities whilst here.

A beautifully simple rustic village pub serving a menu of locally sourced fish (including Mersea oysters) and classic British pub food alongside a range of ales. I came here after chancing upon a tripadvisor review and am so glad I did as although it was not the highest rated pub offering food in the area it felt like a rare gem. The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive and the semi rambling tranquil English beer garden offered stunning views of Brightlingsea harbour. This is not the sort of place to come to if you aren’t able appreciate the charm of an unmodernised traditional feeling

It's a quaint little pub with beautiful views from the garden and the indoor vineyard they have out the back and open fires!. Really pleasent and welcoming staff. I want to come back when it's snowing (if it ever does again in the south east UK) and next summer. Although we didnt have any food a couple were eating and it looked and smelt lovely, that alone means I'll be back to try some of their food out.

Fantastic food, very good prices and all locally sourced.
The fish is excellent here, and it comes form the fantastic fishmonger just down the road.
The Mersea oysters served with a tequila shot to start are fantastic, both in flavour and price (3 oysters, £6.50), and the roasted pidgeon breast with parsnip mash were just perfect.
All I can say is go there now. The chef (Mat Lucania) has come from some of the best kitchens in London and is really influencing the menu is a vibrant and effective manner.
