West Essex Golf Club
Founded in 1900 the course was designed by the legendary James Braid. This Championship parkland course, partially draped across the folds of the ancient Epping Forest, is an outstanding example amongst the 400 courses he was involved with. The 270 degrees elevated views afforded from the front nine holes, to the dramatic and vibrant London skyline will leave lasting memories of this demanding and challenging test of golf.

The clubhouse has undergone an extensive refurbishment. With a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere for all members and visitors, whether you are playing golf or visiting the club for the first time. With stunning views from the patio and terrace, the clubhouse offers the ideal surroundings to enjoy an extensive selection of catering choices from a full English break, light bar snacks to an imaginative la carte menu.
Services
A course of two distinctive halves, West Essex's 6,385 yard championship parkland course provides 18 superb holes, playing to a par of 71. The course is a real test of accuracy and power. Rarely do the professionals in PGA events subdue the "West". The shorter front nine holes put up a strong defense to low scoring with undulating narrow fairways, well bunkered greens and ominous out of bounds hemming in errant tee shots.
Our Golf Professional, Chris Baron, has established numerous golf academies and clubs throughout the world with initiatives still in operation today. He joined the Asian, Australian, South African, European Challenge Tours and more locally the UK South Region circuit for 6 years. He collected numerous victories within the UK, finishing as leading Brit in the Singapore Open and many more throughout this term.
Our purpose built chipping green allows golfers of all abilities to practice their short range golf before they tackle the West Essex course. With a range of differing approaches to the designated green, all golfers can practice a range of shots whilst getting used to the speed of the greens. The new purpose built driving range at West Essex Golf Club is open to both members and the general public 7 days a week.
If you're looking for the perfect way to give friends and family a special something; why not treat them to an evening in our newly refurbished Harrys restaurant or an elegant afternoon tea surrounded by picturesque views. Alternatively, take a look around our well stocked pro-shop where you can choose from an extensive range of golf clubs, accessories and clothing for men, women and juniors.
It's the world's most powerful and accurate system for measuring and analysing ball data. But more than that, it also comes with some great games that make range practice fantastic fun!. Our TrackMan Driving Range system is used by 96 of the World's top 100 golfers to improve their game and now you can sharpen up your game with the same transformational radar technology.

My experience at the west Essex golf club was simply terrible !! All I can do is to advise anyone looking to book a wedding here NOT to !! We had our wedding planned and 5 days before they decided they wasn’t going to do it !! Very traumatic for me and my wife, thankfully we found another venue which was by far much better so we was lucky but after months of organising and planning everything for our big day to then be let down 5 days before was totally unacceptable and we can only warn people who are thinking of booking your big day here NOT to. Couldn’t bare for anyone to go through the stress

Only went to the venue for a party, so don't know what the golf is like. Bar staff amazing, lots of parking and great size for a party and done up really nice. Only issue is all the holes in the road on the driveway up to the car park.

Very welcoming golf club with excellent facilities. The golf course is in fantastic condition and can thoroughly recommend for all ages and handicaps. The brand new driving range is state of the art with fully functional Trackman fitted to all undercover bays. By far the best value golf offering in Essex and probably well beyond !

Great course, not too long and not too narrow, but still a decent challenge, especially if you don't get your drive away or if you don't know your yardages with your irons. Greens in decent shape given that we played towards the end of October after a week of rain. Good little hut serving bacon/sausage baps and hot/cold drinks. Great views of the ever growing London skyline from the holes at the highest point of the course (and the club house).
Also saw a giant mushroom! 😀

A golf course with a tale of two halves - The first half is a short but tight track with no real stand out holes apart from maybe the 2nd which has a tight and blind tee shot. From home 9 onwards the track really comes into it's own. The fairways and greens were in great condition with only a few dry patches around some areas. I played during a twighlight time and the course was relatively quiet. Would play again.

Really lovely course, well kept. Would of given 5 stars if bunkers were proper sand. Most are dirt. Very challenging course, narrow fairways. Greens are perfect. They spray them to make them look extra green (Don't know why they bother?)
Very hilly course so you have to be fit if walking! Buggies available.
Good choice of food extensive menu. Staff all round are friendly and helpful.
Definitely be playing here again.
