The PF Counselling Service
With Edinburgh at Level 0, face-to-face counselling is allowed, but everyone is encouraged to follow guidance to ensure the safety of clients, counsellors, and staff. In-person sessions are continuing at the PF, and we look forward to welcoming clients and counsellors back to the premises. Any changes in these circumstances will be posted here, and on our Twitter and Facebook feeds.

The PF Counselling Service Welcome to counselling in Edinburgh at the PF Counselling Service, providing counselling and psychotherapy for people facing the difficulties of everyday life. Our vision is to enable people to embrace life more fully through the growth, changes and healing that can take place through the counselling process.
Services
The PF Counselling Service is a registered charity which was established in 1986 as The Pastoral Foundation. It became known simply as 'the PF' many years ago, when it was no longer receiving financial support from the local church congregations.

Our vision is to enable people to embrace life more fully through the growth, changes and healing that can take place through the counselling process, regardless of background, experience, or ability to pay.Counselling at the PF is provided by fully trained and qualified voluntary counsellors, supported by volunteer receptionists, a governance Board, and a small staff team.
Counselling may help you if you have a sense that something is not quite right and it's beginning to affect the quality of your life day to day. Counselling at the PF offers support to individuals over the age of 18, in the form of a confidential place where professional counsellors can help you explore the roots of your problems and work towards resolving them.
Unfortunately, PF Counselling is by appointment only and we do not have an immediate crisis service. SANEline - 0300 304 7000 - every day of year from 1 pm - 11 pm - support & information for anyone coping with or caring for someone with mental health issues. Breathing Space - 0800 83 85 87 - every day of the year from 6 pm - 2 am - A service originally aimed mainly at young men, but now for anyone experiencing low mood or depression.
Due to huge demand, we will not be able to accept new applications for the foreseeable future. Please go to the Resources pages on our website for information on other agencies and self-help guides. You are invited to follow us on Facebook and Twitter to receive notification when we reopen for new clients, and any additional announcements.
Being a student in Edinburgh should be enjoyable and interesting, but it can also be a difficult and stressful time for some people. We recommend all students turn first to their university or college for the support they need. The PF provides counselling to many students every year. However, sometimes you need to wait for several weeks before starting, or you may find the waiting list is closed for a while.
