When I had the opportunity to start Summerfield House Day Nursery in 1990 I was a working mother with five young children and a demanding career. From personal experience I knew that it is not easy to juggle the demands of a full time career whilst doing the very best for your children. Without a doubt, the most important thing for me was to have the very best childcare.

I had often thought how wonderful it would be to create a nursery that was a 'home from home'. A place where children could be nurtured, learn, laugh and play knowing themselves to be in safe hands. We were in the process of moving from Summerfield where we had lived for the previous 10 years and I could think of no better place for young children to grow up.
Services
Our staff at Summerfield House are all trained and qualified including EYP, Degree in Early Years & Childcare, NNEB. NVQ & QCF at levels 2 and 3. Work based practical learning is encouraged and offered on a continuous basis with an external training provider. All staff are trained in First aid, Food Hygiene, Safeguarding Children and have the option to access a variety of courses offered by Early Years.
Summerfield House Day Nursery is situated in lovely rural surroundings in a large country house on the A319 just outside Chobham Village. Additional brick buildings, outdoor canopies with rain and UV protected roofs and ample car parks complete the setting. It has a large lawned garden as well as play areas with safety sponge floors where there is a variety of play equipment to encourage physical development and co-ordination.
Summerfield House has a smallholding farm where all the children can see a full range of farm animals and vegetables. Children are not allowed to touch the animals and we follow strict hygiene procedures at the hand washing area when they return from their visit. Childen enjoy feeding the animals through "letterbox" type openings in each pen and are able to collect eggs, without touching the hens/ducks.
That is wonderful news and not at a surprise. You are an amazing manager and lead and nature your staff to enable them to do such a great job. I have always felt so confident and happy sending my girls to you, thank you! It is great that you have the official recognition as well though. This is brilliant news and feel it is an accurate reflection of the standard of the nursery, its staff and the work you all do.
The education programme consists of prime and specific areas set out in the EYFS framework and there are a healthy balance of child and adult led activities to support development and stimulate active minds and busy bodies. Our practice is inclusive for all children. We encourage positive parenting and ask that they support us to focus on giving their child a good foundation to arrive at nursery equipped and ready to learn.

5 stars and outstanding in all areas !
Don’t look any further if you’re looking for a nursery or pre school placement. Kate the manager and all staff are friendly, professional and kind. Your child will be cared for in a loving way as well as educated to a very high standard. I never had any concerns and was able to leave my toddler without any worries. The long waiting list speaks for itself - definitely worth the wait. My little girl was always very happy there. She was potty trained there in less than a week too! Thanks to everyone at Summerfield House !
