MA - UKCP accredited Psychotherapist and Counsellor, registered Clinical Supervisor working in Maida Vale, (London W2 and W9). If you need help and support with any of the following issues, you have come to the right address. Most people experience a Life Crisis at some point in their life, which can feel over-whelming and isolating.
Some might feel embarrassed to talk about some of the issues with friends and family. This is when a course of supportive, non-judgmental short-term counselling or medium- to long- term psychotherapy can be of great value. Madeleine Bcker has many years of experience of helping people through these difficult times.

My work will be different with each client, as to best serve the needs of the individual. With both short-term Solution-Focused-Counselling and medium- or long-term psychotherapy our work together will take place in an open, supportive and non-judgmental atmosphere, building a positive and healthy relationship.
Here is a rule of thumb - as a wise man said, smilingly, If you have a problem in your life - you need counselling. If your life is a problem - go for psychotherapy! As outlined above, clients coming for counselling usually have a specific issue in mind, e.g. We would work through this together, using CBT and other strategies to help you to problem-solve, to become more confident and to communicate better.
Telephone Counselling is sometimes, wrongly, seen as a tool to "only" provide consistency in the counselling process if the client is for one reason or another unable to attend face-to-face sessions. Indeed, this is a very valuable function of telephone counselling, but through many years of experience of providing telephone counselling, I have found it goes much deeper than this.
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprogramming) is a profound, amazing therapeutic technique, which was initially developed in the US specifically to treat traumatised people. Often, EMDR brings about great emotional release and greater enjoyment of life very quickly.
However, EMDR has not only proven to be a great help with PTSD, flashbacks etc., but also in the treatment of chronic pain, depression, phobias, low self-worth as well as with difficulties in present-day relationships.Together, we take an in-depth history of traumatic or difficult memories you might have and then will develop tools for you to resource you for the journey ahead.
