The Ship Inn
Set overlooking the golden sands of Mundesley Beach on the North Norfolk coast, The Ship Inn is the perfect destination for eating, drinking and relaxing. Dating back 300 years, it is perhaps the oldest pub on the Norfolk coast. Using only the finest, freshest ingredients from independent local suppliers, our kitchen brigade create dishes with skill and experience.

We have a giant beachside garden where food and drink can be enjoyed while you watch the waves crash and the sun set. We are so thrilled to have featured in The Telegraph's '50 of the best British pubs with beer gardens' article! What an honour! Escape to the North Norfolk coast and stay in one of our 7 beautiful beachside bedrooms from 65.00 per room, per night including breakfast.
Services
We've always been good at staying 'ship-shape'(!) and now we're adjusting to new ways of doing things so that our care is more visible than ever, while ensuring you have the time and space to be at your happiest. One important point to note is that we are not currently servicing rooms mid-stay; this helps to ensure that your space is your own - completely untouched and undisturbed - throughout your time with us.

Had lunch. Spacious tables and the food was great. Dog friendly too. Ideal after a nice sunny walk on the beach with our Miniature Schnauzer Monty

A friendly and warm welcome. Service good and food menu was popular (although I didn't try) choice of Keg and real ale at reasonable prices. Nice drop in on a cold blustery wet night. Looks like it has a great beer patio with views to the sea for the summer.

We just had the most lovely meal at The Ship. The food was ace, the staff were friendly and attentive and we felt the food was excellent value for money. I cannot understand the negative reviews as we have nothing but good things to say about this place! We stay at Mundesley regularly throughout the year and always visit The Ship and not once have we been disappointed. Thanks so much to all the staff, we look forward to seeing you again on Friday 😀

The position of the pub makes it a beautiful place for a relaxed Sunday lunch. The service was great. Young friendly, attentive staff that were very helpful. I had gluten free fish and chips and they were just delicious. Thoroughly recommend a visit here!

Coastal pub/restaurant overlooking the beach/sea. Accessible entrance round back, steps at side. Car park and plenty of outdoor tables etc. Indoor good seating with good food. Gluten-free fish and chips on offer. Minus point, rock salmon ordered but delivered Plaice instead without telling us! Would have got 5 stars otherwise. Good lunch time fare would recommend you book at busy times. Online booking available. Didn't try beer as driving. Good view from garden with children's play area.

Unfortunately didn't have a great stay. Room 9 is right above the kitchen door/The Catch, so lots of banging, swearing and shouting until 22:45. Room didn't smell of food which was good given its position above the kitchen.
Room was small but v clean, nicely decorated. Bathroom was nice but no running water from 6-7pm. When we asked the staff, we were met with "yeah that happens" and no apology. Not really acceptable when you're paying for a night away.
Poached eggs in the morning we're inedible and just tasted like vinegar, really disappointing as was hungry! Staff said "oh the chef is useless

Quote from a long standing employee ‘As long as we can sell Carling & water, stay open!’
I have holidayed in Mundesley for nearly 40 years & for a lot of that time have spent many great times at The Ship Inn. However, what has always been a pleasant experience has turned into anything but.
I have stayed B&B at The Ship for the previous 2 years & had meals & drinks for many years before so believe I can make a comparison. Following a 60% increase in room rates from last year to this year we decided to stay somewhere else in Mundesley. I decided to ignore the recent reviews & judge The Ship

Decent rooms but do feel they are overpriced. Beautiful view of the beach/ocean. Seemed to host an 80s themed night which only staff knew or cared about. Being guests at the hotel we were told we cant eat in the restaurant as they were full and had called last orders on outside food at 6.45pm?! So we had to get the fish and chips takeaway. Whilst this was very tasty. It did take 40 minutes to come.
There was no wifi availiable for our stay and the shower didnt work. (It was a beautiful rain shower) but sadly it wasnt able to be put to good use.
Upon checking out we spoke to the manager who was

A lovely pub with helpful and friendly staff. Obviously having staffing issues that they mentioned as we couldn't eat there on 2 visits but did enjoy their chippy tea on a 3rd from their side hustle which they were happy for us to eat in their garden, but never the restaurant food. Great views to enjoy with a beer though

An excellent, busy pub with helpful, pleasant and capable staff. We went on a blustery day with customers dashing in from the garden, and all the comings and goings were smoothly handled. All of our party of 6 had Sunday Roast with beef, and agreed that it was the best we had had in terms of quality, presentation and taste.
First class all round. There was an excellent choice of good beers too, and, as a bonus, s delightful aspect over the beach and sea.
