Services
Offering waterside indulgence, Whispering Reeds Cottage is a wonderful, detached, riverside property located directly on a river tributary linking to the River Bure. This prestigious property is superb for both families and couples. It boasts two large decks, its own hot tub, outdoor kitchen/barbecue area and open plan living inside.
We have received numerous enquiries to recommend day boat hire companies from our guests. With our own 30ft quay heading at the bottom of the garden, we decided to invest in a day boat and offer to our guests for the duration of their holiday. I have now received my Hire Boat Operators Licence, upgraded the Boat Safety Scheme certificate, tolls and insurance and she is now ready to go.
Canoeing is a great way to discover this beautiful wetland, and as they're silent, you will be able to get closer to the wildlife which includes water voles, great crested grebes and even otters. Discover the many nooks, crannies and otherwise inaccessible areas out of view from both passing pedestrians and larger pleasure boats.
The name Horning means the "folk who live on the high ground between the rivers". Its history dates back to 1020 when the manor was given by King Canute to the newly founded Abbey of St. Benet at Hulme. Horning Parish extends along the south bank of the River Bure to Thurne Mouth and includes the ruins of St Benet's Abbey & St. James Hospital.

I had the most amazing time here as a group of 6 ladies for a special birthday celebration. The facilities in the house were amazing and there was nothing we needed that wasn't provided. High quality of fixtures and fittings throughout. The boats made our stay really. We had fantastic weather so travelled on them every day. We found nature reserves, pubs and cafés and the routes were just beautiful! The hot tub and BBQ area provided the perfect set up for the evenings and view of the sun set each night was amazing! Would highly recommend.

Really nice, well stocked cottage. The garden runs down to its own private jetty. You can hire a little boat from the owner for the length of your stay. It has a jacuzzi, a gas BBQ and a balcony from the bedroom. We had a heron come knocking on the back door for food. Unusually tame and friendly.
