The Old House At Home
The Old House at Home is a traditional pub nestled in the West Sussex countryside, in Chidham village near Chichester offering its guests an authentic taste of country charm. Thanking you all for your support in these unprecedented times and lets all hope for a positive emergence from this lockdown and going forward.

Come along down to The Old House at Home for a warm welcome and a pint of one of our local beers or lagers. Many of our ales are supplied by independant breweries including, Palmers of Bridpot in Dorset and Langhams from Lodsworth in West Sussex who produce our very own bitter - Chidham Best. We have a wide selection of wines and great pub food.
Services
Located at the heart of the rural village of Chidham near Chichester, The Old House at Home is perfectly situated close to the historical city of Chichester and within easy reach of Chichester Harbour. Dating back to the 18th Century, the beautiful brick building with traditional wooden beams and open fireplaces also boasts a serene garden area that provides a relaxing setting to enjoy in fine weather.
We are lucky to be located in a stunning part of West Sussex on a peninsular that leads down to Chichester Harbour and its bustling maritime activity. With a plethora of sailing clubs and Cobnor Activity Centre nearby, there is plenty to do on the water.

As well as the waterside activities, we are also surrounded by rolling fields that offer a network of public footpaths for walkers to explore before calling in for a refreshing pint or Sunday lunch.Throughout the year we host various events for our guests to enjoy and in the summer months we enjoy open air film showings in the field adjacent to us which are organised by The Chidham and Hambrook Film Society.
Located near the south coast and surrounded by Sussex countryside there is plenty of access to local fresh fish and produce, which we take full advantage of. The list includes outdoor reared pork, Hampshire beef, fish from local coastline and luxury diary ice cream from an accredited Jersey herd. All of these and more are used to create the delicious freshly prepared traditional dishes that are on our menu.
In addition to the standard menu daily Specials are also available. Large crevettes, potted crab, marinated white anchovies, smoked salmon with fresh garlic and lemon mayonnaise and ciabatta. Chef's handmade pie of the day served with either baby potatoes and seasonal vegetables or chips and garden peas.

Great food with very friendly staff, and a very cosy atmosphere. I would definitely recommend and the walk around the peninsula was lovely. The chicken, leek and bacon pie was especially good!

Superb pub. Wonderful food. Their chips are amazing - pretty much long thin roast potatoes. Weather permitting, the outdoor spaces are great. Superb staff. Really looked after us!

Lovely setting, was able to get a table in the garden and sunshine. Ready nice food - big portions! Good beers on tap. Car park at the back was full (about 8 cars) so we had to park on the road. Dog friendly

Lovely place to eat. Nice vibe. Very laid back atmosphere.
Super burger, although the option for sweet potato fries was forgotten. The scampi was super juicy with great tartare sauce and salad.
Very pleasant staff and a nice greeting on arrival. Our two frenchies enjoyed the treats too.
Thank you

Lovely, the staff were so inviting! Served us many a double vodka (they had grey goose on tap!).
The burger was really good! Loved the choice of cheeses! Shared a white chocolate brownie to finish! Excellent setting, perfect for a local hike and a lovely country pub with great staff! Bravo!

After a 5 mile walk around Chidham, we felt we had earned a pub stop. Rarely has a pint of cider tasted so good. And then followed with 'Pie of the Day'. Lovely food, generous portions, friendly staff. Left feeling contented and recharged. Highly recommended.

The perfect stop for late lunch while on a walk alongside wheat fields with that amazing golden glow...the staff here were very friendly and welcoming. The meal was wonderful and have to say the ice-cream at the end was just what the doctor ordered on a hot day....thank you all at The Old House at Home....when I'm next in the area I will be popping in again...

Great food in the garden. Friendly staff. First lunch out since covid19, so we weren't sure what to expect. One way system in place to get in and out - seems to work well. Lovely to see people enjoying themselves again
