Services
The Walpole Bay Hotel was built for discerning guests in 1914, extended in 1927 and is now being lovingly restored to her former glory by the Bishop Family. It was built by Louisa Budge and stayed in her family until 1995 when we, The Bishops started our fairytale adventure. From the moment you enter The Walpole Bay Hotel you step back in time to the ambience of a bygone era.
Ours is a lovely story and we are writing a book about our experience whilst renovating The Walpole but suffice to say here that we welcome you to our Home, our Hotel and our Museum, the realisation of a 35-year ambition! We hope you enjoy your visit. On entering The Walpole you will have walked up the marble steps that have been there since 1914 when the Hotel was originally built by Louisa Budge.

Had a grand one night stay here. It's a funny old hotel with bits and bobs all over the place. Our double room (£105) was very spacious, clean and the bed was comfy. The shower worked well, but the only issue we had with our stay was that the bathroom blind was missing a few slats, it was a clear window and we were only on the first floor. So I'm pretty sure people might have been able to see in!
Breakfast buffet (included in the £105) was decent, with a selection of hot stuff, cereals, yoghurts etc.

Absolutely charming hotel, it was like stepping back in history. Fascinating pictures, curiosities & ' napery ' .... A gallery of framed napkins donated by guests. Poets and artists inspired by their stay. Staff were lovely & had the pleasure of meeting Jane, who has brought the hotel to life. A must visit

Went for their famous cream tea. Lovely Edwardian setting with fine china but the actual cream tea food was pretty poor. The sandwiches were okay but the scones and cakes were probably bought from the nearest supermarket and the cream and jam was served up in old reused breakfast jam pots. There was a pianist banging it out too loud to have a conversation and the table service was minimal.
