At Cliftonville Townhouse, you can expect home-from-home comfort mixed with a little luxury, history and local art. Just like Margate itself. The brainchild of Simon Bell & Stephen Darrer (who between them have a lifetime of design and hospitality experience) this townhouse is a must for anyone wanting a modern and stylish seaside break.
Rooms are light, airy and inspiring - all boasting original features, ever-changing local art, and stunning mid-century-modern furniture. You can even opt for a room with a must-lie-in four-poster bed and cast iron roll-top bath. And both hosts are always on hand to offer a little local knowledge, from directions to the Turner Gallery, to directions to the best bars, restaurants and coffee shops.

This Boutique B&B is a gem. I stayed for a couple of night during a solo trip, and I found it to be very welcoming, extremely clean and absolutely beautiful. The staff was super kind and friendly, and being a girl travelling alone that made me feel safe. I can't wait to go back, and maybe try a different room!

Truly excellent 5-star experience. Stephen is the perfect host, who clearly takes pride in thinking of every little thing. The breakfast served in our room was a real highlight. We stayed in room 2 which was immaculate and beautifully appointed, and we loved the ornate stand-alone bathtub. We will definitely be back!

We had a fantastic stay for 2 nights at the Cliftonville Townhouse! Large room with a great en suite (large bath / separate shower). Stephen is a great host and very informative and on hand to answer any questions you have. Best part - breakfast served to you in your own room. Selection was great and could not fault it! Will definitely be coming back.

This was our second stay at Cliftonville Townhouse and I’m sure it won’t be our last. Stephen has the warmest welcome and couldn’t make us feel more at home.
The room we’ve stayed in has everything you need and is finished to a very high standard, with many touches that show real attention to detail.
Being brought breakfast in your room feels really indulgent and I’m happy to say that it’s all really tasty and well presented.
Lastly, Stephen knew we’d been at a birthday party the night before we checked out, so left us a couple of bottles of water to take with us to help with the

The Cliftonville Townhouse is fabulous! As has been said before, it is beautifully and tastefully furnished with lots of thoughtful touches, from the Tunnocks tea cakes in the room to the perfectly presented breakfast! Stephen was a wonderful host, even though we were only staying one night, brimming with enthusiasm for the local sights and diverse selection of local restaurants. Unfortunately we weren't staying long enough to enjoy them all, but there will hopefully be another chance soon! We stayed in room 3, a small but beautifully designed room with a lovely outside space. Breakfast on the

We were looking for somewhere that would allow us to have an early check in as we were going to a wedding at 2pm and most places don't allow check in before this time. Stephen was more than happy to accommodate us for a 12pm check in. However we changed our plans & booked an extra night, and we were so pleased we did! We had room 3 on the top floor, a few stairs to negotiate!, but it was worth it as it had a balcony on which we were able to have our breakfast. The breakfast itself was just amazing, so beautifully presented, a fabulous start to the day. The room was very nice, and this is not a

Just returned from a fab stay at Cliftonville Townhouse. A lovely, friendly welcome after a morning at work and a 3.5 hour drive was a great start to our visit. Room 3 has sloping ceilings in places but it is the attic, you soon learn where to duck!! Breakfast was amazing, delivered with a smile to the room, adjustments made to what is offered to suit our tastes, glorious weather made breakfast on the balcony even better. Parked the car on Friday and didn't need it again until home time on Sunday. Would definitely stay again if we are ever that way.

We have just returned from Margate and I have to share just how lovely a stay we had at the Cliftonville Townhouse. Stephen is the best host, with every detail and finishing touch considered. The rooms are beautifully furnished and spotless. The bed was big and comfy, with the proper roll top bath providing an extra level of luxury. Then there are the breakfasts, delivered straight to your room. We started our days with fresh coffee and freshly squeezed OJ, lovely fruit and smoothies, crispy bacon and perfectly poached eggs. Everything was spot on. All the extra touches in the room, like a good

Beautiful B&B - I have just stayed for 2 nights and wish it could have been longer! Stephen is such a wonderful host - warm and kind - he made me so welcome and is so knowledgeable about the area.
I had room 2 which was perfect in every way - lovely comfy bed - beautifully decorated and immaculately clean - bathroom is gorgeous with a free standing bath and fluffy towels and dressing gowns supplied!
My sister lives in Westgate and came for a peek and was very impressed - we are 5 sisters who have regular weekends away so this is definitely on our list for next year !! Oh and the breakfasts were

I stayed at the Cliftonville Townhouse for 3 nights in October. I was greeted by a warm welcoming smile from host Stephen and treated to a much-needed glass of prosecco on arrival.
From the moment I arrived, I was treated like a Queen and spoilt rotten by the Stephen’s incredible hospitality. I stayed in Room 1, which was truly special from the comfortable four poster bed to the little touches like teacakes by the bed to Netflix and Amazon Prime available on the TV. The bathroom was immaculate too and the roll top bath was stunning.
Breakfast each morning was a real treat, with delicious dishes
