The Bay Tree Hotel Broadstairs has ten ensuite bedrooms, eight with sea views. The rooms are named after British woods and feature colours that reflect the sea and local surroundings. English Oak incorporates pastel blues to reflect the colours of the sea which occupants can look out onto from the room's balcony.
Whilst there is a restaurant serving breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea and dinner, guests are also welcome to take their meals in their rooms if they prefer. For those who do want to enjoy the outdoors, the hotel is literally a stone's throw away to Stone Bay, a beautiful stretch of beach which is a haven of calm in the winter.

That means traditional wooden sash windows, the original skirting and doors have been kept or copied and stairs and landings have all been restored to their former glory. Robert and Alistair have created a unique style and design which reflects their personalities and interests. In addition to restoring original features, unique pieces of upcycled furniture were brought in to add colour and personality to the rooms.
Ben came to us on Halloween 2015 after we found him at Canterbury Dogs Trust, where he had just arrived, he had not even had his photo taken and was extremely keen to meet us, be taken for a walk and a few days later, move in with us.
Aside from forming an immediate bond with us, he also met our criteria for being small-medium sized, was good with people and like all Bedlington Terriers, his coat was hypo-allergenic, which was important for us running a hotel. As he was already chipped we knew his name was Ben and that he was a stray found in Fife but nothing more, although he was already house-trained and knew basic commands.

Dog friendly (dog fee 10 per dog per night). Includes complimentary dog treats, Mason Cash dog bowl, access to hose outside room to wash your pet after the beach, use of micro-fibre pet towel. Dogs are allowed in our sea-view lounge, patio and our library bar. Dogs are not allowed in our restaurant (please note we can serve your breakfast in your room if you don't want to leave your dog).
We ate here on a Sunday evening, having booked well in advance and found ourselves the only diners (presume the good weather kept everyone outside!). Our arrival seemed to surprise the owners, who were very friendly and we had almost a private dining experience, with useful conversations about each dish prior to ordering.

Lovely hotel in a really good location overlooking Stone Bay. As we had a dog with us we where given a ground floor room with its own enclosed patio. It was a lovely room and we appreciated being able to let the dog out safely in the late evening. The food is good quality. I did have a badly cooked poached egg one morning but it wouldn't put me off going back.

Just returned from a 5 day cycling and walking break based at the Bay Tree Hotel, great location right on the sea front and the Viking coastal trail. Had a great Sunday Lunch on arrival and the breakfast each morning was just what you need to set you up for a day of exploring. The staff were very friendly Floyd made us feel welcome and was a fun guy from the moment we booked in. Zona had a great smile and though rushed off her feet managed to keep smiling. Thanks Phoebe you delivered a great breakfast each morning.

I am a bit disappointed by this hotel. There appears to be two managers and the manager we met at 7pm was a bit spaced out in his ability to provide a service. He made me and my friend feel a bit uneasy in his presence and he made unnecessary disparaging comments about the builders who did the redecoration of the hotel and his comments about his staff was unprofessional plus when he arrived he spent far too long trying to find our booking for the restaurant. He seemed lacking in interest. The food was quite good but not good enough for a hotel. The lamb we had was not cooked properly and was verging

Just returned from afternoon tea - a treat for my sister's birthday. Wonderful tea with the best scones I think I've ever tasted. A birthday cake had been made at no extra cost and we were left to enjoy a perfect tea with amazing views over Stone Bay.
I wouldn't hesitate to go back and do it all over again and I can't recommend it highly enough.
