Ashgrove Nursery School
Our School is a 'stand-alone' building, opened in 1980. It currently caters for 78 children in their pre-school year, funded by the Department of Education. We work together as a team, with a shared, consistent, positive approach ensuring the development of each child is strengthened. Ashgrove Nursery School is a purpose-built school furnished and resourced in order to set a climate of purposeful learning.

Ashgrove Nursery School is a happy place to be - whether you are 3 or 4; a mum or dad; a grandparent, aunt or uncle; childminder; or if you are part of our teaching and support team. Based in Newtownabbey, Northern Ireland, our core aim is to provide a positive learning environment for children and where we endeavour to make their first taste of school enjoyable and beneficial.

Ashgrove Nursery School Newtownabbey is a 'stand-alone' building, opened in 1980. It currently caters for 78 children in their pre-school year, funded by the Department of Education. We recognise that childhood is a stage of life in its own right to be enjoyed.

There is a natural curiosity, sense of wonder and amazement in each child and its our goal to provide a loving, caring environment, complementing a wide variety of well-planned activities to ensure that each child is exposed to optimum development.
Our Ashgrove Nursery School Staff possess a wealth of knowledge, understanding and skills. We work together as a team, with a shared, consistent, positive approach ensuring the self- esteem and development of each child is protected and strengthened. Mrs Parkinson has a four year teacher training degree specialising in early childhood education after 'A' levels.
So much to do. and so little time to do it! We encourage the children to develop all of their senses, because the more they use them, the more they can learn! Making friends and building relationships with others is fundamental to all that we provide in our Nursery School. Sorting and matching, counting and measuring - opportunities are there for it all ~ and more!
Making friends and becoming more independent are fundamental learning opportunities at Ashgrove Nursery School. Alongside these skills, Staff spend time encouraging children to share and take turns as they play and learn. Opportunities are also provided for children to grow in confidence, adopt healthy lifestyles and to build a positive attitudes to learning.
Sorting and matching, counting and measuring - opportunities are there for it all and more! Ashgrove Nursery School actively encourages little problem solvers, finding out about pattern, size, time and shape - building understanding as we play and learn together. The care and welfare of the children at Ashgrove Nursery School is a key priority for Staff throughout the whole learning environment.
