ROYAL (School of Motoring), was started in 1981 by Martin Ferid opening an office in Camberwell shortly after. This was at a time long before speed humps & traffic cameras. Most people were picked up from the office in South London and the AA were only a breakdown service, no plumbers or driving instructors yet.
Established in 1981, we have been providing quality tuition for nearly 40 years. Not only have we taught the children, but in some cases also the grandchildren of those that started their lessons with us back then. Our aim is to provide a safe learning environment for our students with every lesson or course we provide.
Our block booking is specially discounted to give you better value for money. Generally speaking, the closer lessons are together, the fewer lessons are needed in the long run. Giving a double saving. Although they don't suit everybody, Intensive Courses are a great way to take out a lot of the stress of prolonged lessons.
To prepare for the theory test the Driving & Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) recommend that all candidates study the Highway Code, know Your Traffic Signs and the relevant books from DSA's Driving Skills series. You could study, at home or just online. All Royal students receive unlimited FREE Theory and Hazard Perception training at our Lewisham Office.
Apply for a Provisional Driving Licence. This is a Green Driving Licence which allows you to drive with any persons older than 21 that has been driving for longer than 3 years. The DVSA naturally recommends the services of a Registered Driving Instructor. Book your driving lessons and pass the Theory Test with help and assistance from your Driving Instructor.

I passed my driving test first attempt today, with the Royal driving school. The best driving school in London, very professional staff and my driving instructor Biggy the best all round instructor I recommend this school to everyone.

So glad I used RSoM for instruction prior to driving test. As a seasoned driver coming from the US, I’m delighted with the great advice, tips and instructions given before taking my test. The team was very courteous and friendly throughout the process. I commend the team for instructing me on the nuances of the test and re-enforcing to stop the small errors that we pick up along the way that are not test proper.

Great and friendly service from office staff. But my instructor Reuben was lazy with no people skills or patience to go over areas where I struggled. He has no empathy or care for students. Before and after my test not even a good luck and didn’t even bother to ask how my test went. Not worth wasting your money specially as on day of test they ask you to pay £120 which is crazy to me.

I did lessons around 30hrs of lessons with an instructor at Royal. To be fair, I thought the instructor was very good, friendly and easy to talk to. My issue lies with the school itself, and what happened on my test day.
Royal have an incredibly overpriced and non-negotiable test package. They charged me £120 to take my test in the car that I had been learning in. This was supposed to include a pick up and drop off by the instructor, 1.5hrs of lessons before the test and the car hire for the test itself.
This is a blatant rip off, as hiring a car for your test is no different from hiring it
