Woolsthorpe by Belvoir! Not the one where Sir Isaac Newton discovered gravity, but the one where you'll find the award winning Chequers Inn. A quintessential English country pub that also happens to serve rather delicious food. Nestled twixt the three counties of Lincolnshire, Leicestershire and Nottinghamshire in the unspoilt and stunning Vale of Belvoir, with views up to the ancestral home of the Duke of Rutland, Belvoir Castle.
In the winter, the Chequers greets you with roaring log fires and a cosy atmosphere to hunker down into - delicious comfort food and winter warmers from the bar. In the summer, we throw open the doors to our pretty garden, perfect for al fresco dining and a glass or two of rose!

Services
Good food is our passion and it's what the Chequers is all about. We have an amazing team of chefs in the kitchen all of whom are absolutely passionate about creating the tastiest and most interesting food in the area. Our food is seasonal and our menu changes monthly - blink and that favourite dish you had the other night might have already been replaced by another creation.
If food is our passion, then wine and beer is our lust! Our extensive wine list offers over 30 by the glass as well as a separate champagne list. We run four real ales at all times including our house local Rutland Bitter from the Grainstore Brewery alongside a constant changing range of guest beers.
At the Chequers we offer four comfortable, en-suite bedrooms in a converted stable block adjacent to the Inn. All feature large flat screen TV's, Duck Island toiletries, tea and coffee making facilities and a minimum of a comfy king size bed with crisp, white linen. Our Loft Room offers a super king sized bed, 32 smart tv and dvd player, a beautifully appointed wet room and separate bathtub, sofa and refridgerator.
Dogs are welcomed with open arms at the Chequers. They are welcome in the bar and under control in the garden. If you would like to have dinner in the bar with your canine friend it is always a good idea to book in advance as our huge sharing bar tables are very popular. Dogs are also welcome to stay in a couple of our bedrooms at a charge of 5 per dog per night.

Where do I start? There are so many positives to choosing The Chequers for your special day.
The ambience; a beautiful cosy country pub/house with a soothing intimate feel and lots of interesting nooks to explore. The event room is spacious with warm oak wooden floors, large glass paned bi-folding doors outlooking to beautiful gardens, a 360 vision of loveliness. Log fires for those colder evenings or garden seating for summer.
The venue room; our wedding was in November and we chose a candle lit, intimate feeling with autumnal colours complemented by their warm oak wood flooring and soft lighting

Nice food. Nice atmosphere. Helpful and friendly staff. But the Lunchtime menu was quite limited, they were small portions, and expensive. £20 for a burger and chips and a slightly burnt tasting sticky toffee pudding. Separately ordered, the Cider tasted wrong, but then you're not in Somerset when you're in Lincolnshire.

Puddings are nice but for the sweetness of the sticky toffee pudding, there was not much ice cream at all. Pricey though. My husband's and his cousin's food looked really nice. Unfortunately mine only came with fries. For some strange reason only the manager takes the orders and no one replied when I tried to thank them for the food and say bye. Very pretty place.

What a lovely Pub
Great for children with the gardens I had the pleasure of going to my sons engagement venue held there.
I was disappointed at the fact after ordering a large drinks order to be told no cash accepted at the bar my Amex card was not accepted so was embarrassed as I had to ask my son to pay with his bank card. Found out much later after going to the front bar that a tab could have been set up.
With the place so busy on a lovely day service was not so fast and I feel if they have a cash till would benefit the pub
I was not the only customer with this problem !

Ok, I'm going to come clean right from the outset: I love the Chequers Inn! It's a guilty pleasure of mine, and I make no apology.
It's a lovely warm, cosy blanket of a gastropub in the gorgeously picturesque village of Woolsthorpe-by-Belvoir, just down the hill from the stunning Belvoir castle, and surrounded by the long rolling hills of the vale of belvoir. The village cricket pitch is behind the inn and you can regularly see sheep and horses grazing in nearby fields. It reminds me of an old oil painting of the English countryside - lovely in summer, but perfect when snowed

From what I know, the owners of this place are also the owners of The Gregory, just down the road from me and I absolutely love the Greg. I have been twice... once for drinks and cigars. They have a lovely gazebo outside that makes for a great cigar smoking hut. They also have a nice selection of ales.
The second time I went was for a business dinner. We had a room to ourselves and pre-ordered from a set menu. I remember having some kind of rocket and parmesan salad as a starter. Then I had a steak for the main. Lots of people ordered the steak and unfortunately mine was really delayed

A little disappointed with this pub/ restaurant on a visit for sunday lunch.
We'd booked ahead, informing that several of our party were vegetarian, but there didn't seem to have been any adjustments made to the menu (yet another goats cheese starter; and cous-cous with olives and red pepper which was at best a starter and somewhat lacking in protein) but those of us that had meat main courses were happy with those.
Things were redeemed, a little, with the desserts where the staff were able to offer things to eveyones satisfaction.
