At Stepping Stones Nursery in Durham, we aim to provide a welcoming and secure environment. Our staff work together as a team in cooperation with parents in providing a warm, happy nursery atmosphere where the children feel valued and confident. Each child is treated as an individual with his/her own personality.
In our Under 2's Nursery room, the staff to child ration is 1:3 meaning your child is supervised by our trained staff in very small groups. Our Under 2's Nursery room is a calm and tranquil place where children enjoy quiet time as well as being offered a variety of stimulating and fun activities. We have lots of low level furniture in this nursery room plus equipment for those children who are becoming mobile.
In our Rainbow Room, for children over 2 and preschool, the children have access to a wide variety of resources to encourage development in all aspects of learning. The nursery day is well planned which meets requirements of Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS). It is also child led which promotes stimulating and interesting play.
The EYFS is a very important stage as it helps your child to get ready for school as well as preparing them for their future learning and successes. From when your child is born their early years experiences should be happy, active, exciting, fun and secure; and support their development care and learning needs.
