St. Oswald's is a Church of England Aided school situated in the historic City of Durham, near the University. We provide quality education for children aged 3-11 years and aim for high standards of performance and behaviour. We recognise the right of each child to develop a full range of learning skills irrespective of gender, race or physical ability.

As a Church of England school, we aim to reflect the teaching of the Christian faith in all aspects of school life. Our Voluntary Aided status enables us to strengthen and maintain our Christian ethos. I would like to extend a warm welcome to you all and hope that your association with the school is a long and happy one.
Services
We promote an inclusive and happy environment that nurtures potential, develops wisdom, builds integrity and inspires a love of life and learning. Recognising its historic foundation, St Oswald's C of E Aided Primary and Nursery School works closely with the Diocese of Durham and St Oswald's Church to provide a stimulating and high quality education within a caring Christian environment.
St Oswald's is a small school of six classes: Nursery, Elvet, Dunelm, Neville, Kingsgate and Bailey. There are 20 children per year group (cohort) from Reception to Year 6. Due to the size of our school building, most classes are mixed age with the exception of Year 6, who are taught separately. The configuration of our classes means that children in Year 1 and Year 4 are split in two equal groups across two classes.
Welcome to our SEND Information Report (SIR) which is part of Durham County Council's Local Offer for children and young people with Special Educational Needs. The Government has asked all Local Authorities in the UK to publish, in one place, information about the services and provision they expect to be available in their area for children and young people from 0 to 25 who have Special Educational Needs and/or a Disability (SEND).
