South Somerset District Council's licensing team has recently been made aware that passengers are complaining about drivers using the meters in taxis, leading to arguments over the cost of fares. To avoid misunderstandings, the council has clarified the legal position on the use of the taxi meter and the lawful fare that can be charged.

Booked cab to pick me up from Tesco, straight away driver stayed he couldn't assist with helping me unload shopping. On arrival to my home address I politely asked if he could assist me as I have Lung Cancer but he just rolled his eyes trying to justify why he couldn't and watched me struggle trying to catch my breath
