Built in 1871 as a hunting lodge for the MacDonalds. Sconser Lodge on the Isle of Skye is now a small family run hotel, where you are assured a friendly and relaxing stay. Situated centrally between Broadford and Portree on the banks of a sea loch it makes an ideal base to explore the whole of Skye, or the isle of Raasay which is just a short ferry ride away.
With mountains behind and the heart of the Cuillins just 5 minutes away Sconser lodge is uniquely placed to experience the magical scenery for which Skye is renowned. The Isle of Skye golf club, one of two 9 hole golf courses on the island, is next door running parallel to the sea loch.

Services
We aim to offer a relaxing, comfortable stay with a traditional country house atmosphere, and can promise a warm and friendly welcome to all our guests. We are right on the sea shore with our own jetty and mooring, where you may see a visiting otter. Seals and dolphins have also been known to put in an appearance.
There are 8 bedrooms of which 6 are on the upper floor with 2 further bedrooms on ground level. 3 front facing bedrooms with stunning sea loch views looking out over the water to the Isle of Raasay and mainland beyond. All rooms have complimentary hospitality trays, hand made shortbread, hair dryers and free view television.
A non refundable deposit of 25 per room per night is taken in order to secure the reservation. If the booking is cancelled within 7 days of arrival full payment will be due unless room is resold. We have no single rooms so for sea view rooms the price is based on two sharing, for non sea view there is a reduction of 10.
The menu reflects the abundance of fresh local produce we have on and around Skye and along with the daily specials board we aim to provide an excellent choice of local shellfish, seafood and game. From hand dived Sconser scallops, Loch Eishort mussels, to Skye venison and our Highland cross Shortcross Aberdeen Angus beef accompanied by Salad leaves from Glendale and Orbost on Skye and vegetables from Totaig.
Every wedding is a unique occasion and at Sconser lodge we can cater for small intimate gatherings for up to thirty guests. The emphasis is on the couple and we will work with you to help create the day that you want. Whilst photos are being taken on the loch front your guests can sip champagne and enjoy picturesque views over the loch and beyond, or stay warm in front of the bar's peat burning fire.

I rarely write reviews, but I felt compelled to write this one. We made a reservation here by calling a few days ahead of time, as is the habit on the Isle of Skye if you want to have a nice dinner anywhere. We arrived to apparent surprise on the part of the manager, with whom I'd previously spoken on the phone - more specifically, he looked surprised that the likes of us would have made a reservation. He asked us to sit in the bar instead of checking the ledger for our booking. We assumed that we were waiting there temporarily, but he never took us back to the dining room. The dining room

We had an excellent dinner at the lodge (although we were not staying there). The 'old lodge' has a nice ambiance, our server was friendly and attentive, and the menu featured interesting choices: my wife had scallops and I chose the leg of lamb with minted mashed potatoes. The server was also able to recommend whiskies for us to try. All in all this was one of the most enjoyable meals of our two week trip in Scotland.
