Services
Westerclose warmly welcomes individuals and families, dogs and horses. Our accommodation comprises four comfortably furnished dog-friendly holiday cottages and an apartment in a peaceful courtyard setting, sleeping between 2 and 6 people, with everything you need for a well-deserved holiday, whether you want to relax or have an action packed Exmoor break!
Our dog-friendly cottages have enclosed lawned gardens and are "dog-proof". Each has direct access into a further large lawn/paddock with a pathway leading into Kitridge Lane with off-road footpaths or down to the village. As we have free range chickens and ducks, also sheep and horses, we ask that dogs are kept on a lead whilst walking to and from your cottage.
Exmoor is an activity-packed place, whether you are looking for a quiet break away from the hustle and bustle or an active break for you and your family. For an active holiday there are miles of wonderful walks or cycle rides, or horse riding across the myriad of bridleways over the moor. Fishermen can fish beautiful fast flowing rivers or still waters, or take a boat sea fishing from various coastal ports.
Exit at J25 of the M5 and follow the signs (easy) round Taunton for Minehead on the A358. Approx 3 miles out of Taunton (after signs for Bishops Lydeard), turn left onto the B3224 signposted Exford & Wheddon Cross (under railway bridge). Continue straight on for approx 9 miles, pass Ralegh's Cross Inn on your left and, after another mile, turn right at the white Chapel on the B3224 signposted Exford and Wheddon Cross.

Lovely place, lovely people. Go for a drive in the evening in the summer to spot deer to the east and north of Simonsbath: the deer pictures were taken here on 30-07-17 at around 8-9pm. Bats in the evening if the weather is good as well. The historically famous (because it's an old pack horse bridge) Landacre bridge is a good walk away to the west, and the more famous (because it gets washed away in extreme winter storms) Tarr Steps is a good walk to the east.

This was our second visit to Exmoor staying at Westerclose House Cottages. The cottages are very well appointed with all creature comforts and excellent Wi Fi. Both spacious and comfortable with warmth and cosiness guaranteed utilising the benefit of a wood burner in the lounge and additional heating in other rooms.
The immediate surroundings are just beautiful with a pub and village stores within easily walkable reach. There are many well signed footpath walks and also ample parking and drying facilities. Polly and Julian are the nicest hosts and have a wealth of knowledge and information about
