Clippesby is believed to have Viking origins (indicated by the "by" ending to its name). At that time the settlement was bordered by a saltwater lagoon that existed before the 'sandspit', where Great Yarmouth now stands, formed, to block the entrance to the North Sea. Subsequent drainage by windpumps created rich agricultural land upon which the settlement was largely dependent until recent years.

Great campsite and Restaurant. Visited at the beginning of November and had a superpitch. The shower facilities were immaculate and really well thought out. The campsite is very picturesque.
The restaurant, Basecamp, served very good food - pizzas were amazing and the staff really friendly and helpful.
Will definitely come back again

A beautiful campsite, very peaceful ideal for children with the trees and zip wire, the new bar&restaurant is gorgeous and the Sunday carvery was lovely, shame there is no more swimming pool, but my only real moan is the showers, there's just no water pressure, it just dribbles out,my wife couldn't wash her long hair because wouldn't get shampoo out,so needs a pump on the showers to boost that or something, but it's a great place all the same, love it,thank you

Very impressive campsite, excellent onsite facilities, parks and things for the children to explore on their bikes. Pitches were generous size and flat, we did have quite a lot of rain on a couple days so the ground did get boggy. Toilet facilities were very clean and top notch. Lots of places to visit out of the park, would definitely recommend coming here for camping again.

My family have had a great 4 day stay here .We only live 9 miles away but we were testing out our new folding camper .So didn't want to go to far .Had a lovely time .The pitches are a good size and nicely spaced out .The food here is very good too and not expensive at all .I thought the staff were all very polite and efficient .A big up for the cleaners what an amazing job they do .
