Having gained over 18 years' experience in various countries across Europe, Filippo has a wealth of knowledge when it comes to cuisine.

Yes, we take pride in delivering one of the finest gluten free menus around. Pastas and sauces are all available gluten free, just ask for more information when you arrive. We will do our very best to fit you in where we can, so it's always worth asking, however, most of our tables get booked up in advance, so we highly recommend booking to avoid disappointment.
Services
The Amato family moved to England from Sicily in 1960, bringing their Italian way of tailoring with them. Pietro, the eldest brother, along with twin brothers Nicky and Vito opened their own tailoring shop in Carlisle city centre, and for many years they built up the Amato's name and in return, gained many loyal customers.

Fantastic food and excellent customer service. The best Italian (Sicilian) restaurant in Carlisle. Especially love the Arancini starter. This is our 'go to' restaurant for any occasion.

We dine here quite regularly. The food is authentically Italian and absolutely delicious. Their pizza and pasta is the best I have tasted outside of Italy. We love the fact it is on our doorstep.
Their desserts and puddings are fabulous too.
Very friendly and helpful. If you like culture and historical things you have Tullie House Museum and the old Quarter of Carlisle right there too.
The family are from Sicily so I have attached a couple of photos showing info regarding Sicily which is displayed in the restaurant. Buon appetito!

Easy to book. Great service, friendly staff.
Me and the Mrs shared a starter and a had a main each. 2 drinks each. We had the table for 2 hours but were in and out in just under 1.5 hours.
We weren't rushed or pressured to order. Service was great and the food came quickly and efficiently and you could tell it was cooked fresh.
As someone that enjoys food, I should know lol. Well worth the visit and pricing is good too foe the portions.
If you like good Italian food, please visit.

This restaurant was such a pleasant surprise, we were a bit hungry and not knowing the area had a quick look on Google and the first two options unfortunately were closed due to Covid... then went past this restaurant (Amatos) and decided to give it a try, and we liked it very much as it offered us such a great culinary experience. Food vas very tasteful, visually appealing and the atmosphere welcoming and peaceful. The prices are higher than the usual places but it reflects the quality and service the place offers! Totally recommend if you go visit Carlisle ❤👍🏻

Very convenient to the Carlisle city hostel. Service was great. Wonderful selection of Sicilian style food with gluten free pasta and vegetarian options. nice house white wine. Popular as it looked fairly full on a Tuesday night.
