We promote active learning through a range of guided activities, as well as self-motivated activities. Our children have a wide choice of materials to choose from. We have a private outdoor space with a garden, where children are encouraged to grow and care for plants. Bug hotels provide plenty of space for minibeasts! All children love messy play! We have an outdoor kitchen where they can make mud pies, plus a sand pit and soil play areas. Perfect for little imaginations!
Services
The Learning Tree Nursery, with its main building, was established over thirty years ago (with Kid's Club introduced in 1995) by volunteers living in the Carlton Miniott community. The aim was to provide low cost quality day care for nursery age children in the Thirsk and surrounding area.
Since then it has developed from 2 mornings per week into a fully fledged wrap-around child day care centre, providing Ofsted inspected and approved facilities for 2 - 4 year olds and out of school hours care for 5 - 11 year olds. The smaller Portakabin was kindly donated to the Learning Tree by a local businessman and long standing Trustee, in 1995.

How does the setting know if children need extra help and what should I do if I think my child may have special educational needs? The settings named SENCO (special educational needs co-ordinator). Your child's key person. From time to time the setting seeks advice from outside professionals to ensure that children's needs are being met.
The management committee is made up of volunteers, working closely together with Emma Raisbeck (Manager) and Lisa Lovell (Deputy Manager) to ensure the delivery of childcare is of the highest quality. The committee is an important and essential component of the Nursery and is made up of parents/carers who wish to contribute towards its ongoing management and development.
For nursery aged children during both term time and school holidays the setting charges a rate of 4.50 per hour, which is charged by the half hour. For school aged children attending the setting during term time, the fees between the hours of 07.30 - 09.00 are 4.50 per session. The session cost for school aged children attending between the hours of 15.30-18.00 is 7.25 per session.
The Learning Tree and Kids Club is open 51 weeks of the year from 7.30 am until 6.00pm. We have a team of 8 staff and accommodate children between the ages of 2 and 11 years. The Learning Tree delivers the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) and takes pride in offering a safe, secure and happy environment in which children can thrive and develop.

My eldest has been coming here since just after Easter. Ellie and Amy (as her key workers) are amazing with what they do, they are so suppprtive with both me and my daughter. They always have time for her even if they are meant to be on break or are not even at work. Emma runs it brilliantly, she is very accomodating and flexible allowing my daughter to join in with a little trip out of nursery during times she doesnt normally attend the nursery at all. She also makes sure we are informed of everything through e-mails and letters and responds super quick too. Everyone is welcoming and makes conversation
