The Sanctuary started in the winter of 1958 when a baby seal, only a few hours old, was washed up on the beach at St Agnes. Ken Jones lived with his wife just one hundred yards from the beach, he picked up the pup and took it back to his small garden. For many years he ran a rescue centre for seals and oiled birds, with just one pool, at St Agnes.
The M4, M5 and M6 motorways have made travel to Cornwall simple and straightforward, while within Cornwall itself, the two major holiday routes, the A30 and A38 continue to improve, with fast dual carriageways most of the way to Penzance. The easiest way is to join the M5, which you then follow to Exeter, after which you take the A30 or A38 into Cornwall.

Just stayed there with my daughter. What an absolutely delightful place in one of the most beautiful parts of the UK. Was within seconds of Helston's centre, within minutes of Mullion Cove and was quick to get out to St. Ives or other areas. It just felt like we could get to many parts of Cornwall in quick time and with no traffic. The place was very clean, well equipped and Sarah was wonderful. I can't imagine a reason to stay anywhere else when next I visit.

This was a lovely place to stay - the owner is very friendly and welcoming. The Covid safety things were not intrusive and it was very clean. She made delicious breakfast, and had her own homemade jam from fruit grown in the garden. Easy to travel around the Lizard penninsula on the buses from the house, with a bus stop right outside.
