I am Adrian Hewlett, a former naval officer, long retired from a career in aviation mostly in the Middle East. I live here at Folly with Tinka my Jack Russell, and we both delight in greeting visitors to our very special property. Let me tell you why I say that this remote and solitary place has a SPECIAL FEELING about it.
This is because while it is kept very much alive by the stable yard with three horses which graze in my fields, at the same time there is a SILENT STILLNESS here. It is this which visitors always find so REFRESHING AND REVIVING after the bustle of modern busy lives. My visitors enjoy the fact that the famous Red Deer are all around and a few minutes' walk will always bring you close to a herd of Exmoor Ponies who also roam wild.

Services
Approached via a stable door the living areas look out onto the superb view - so even indoors you can enjoy the stunning scenery. Many birds visit the garden to feed and this is where it is often best to sit and watch them. The kitchen area has excellent work and storage space with a ceramic hob over a fan assisted oven and grill, with a large microwave, fridge-freezer, electric kettle, toaster, and all the cutlery, crockery and tools you need.
EXMOOR was Europe's First International Dark Sky Reserve so views at night are great, too. You can hire a telescope in advance from either Dunster or Dulverton National Park Centre or directly from Dark Sky Telescope Hire. On Folly's doorstep is the Caratacus Stone, believed to have been erected by Pagan inhabitants of Winsford, and which dates from late Roman times.
