Services
Over the past couple of years the caf at Porthminster has been cultivating and developing it own vegetable, herb and salad garden on waste ground opposite the caf. This garden has been transformed with stunning results almost single handily by Jim and Julie Horn who's son was one of the original apprentices in the kitchen and is at present travelling the southern hemisphere.
An acclaimed beachside restaurant which serves up one of the most memorable dining experiences in Cornwall - if not the UK. Over the course of 25 years, the team have built an enviable reputation for combining Asian and Mediterranean influences in dishes showcasing the freshest seafood, garden grown produce and foraged coastal ingredients.
Our menus are updated regularly to ensure we are using everything the season has to offer, from the freshest seafood to foraged coastal ingredients and produced gathered from our adjacent garden plot. If you have any allergies please inform us, and our chefs will do everything they can to accommodate your needs.
With an emphasis on the freshest of Cornish Seafood and locally sourced ingredients, this book beautifully captures the unique pleasure of eating at the Porthminster Caf and reveals some of its best kept secrets. This beautiful book not only includes some of our secret recipes but also captures absolutely stunning photography of St Ives at its very best!
The caf recycles as much as possible and by doing this we reduce the amount of waste sent to landfill sites. There are recycling bins available across the beach to encourage visitors not only to keep our beaches clean but also to help the environment by recycling as well. We use local suppliers where possible to help the environment by reducing the products journey to us and by doing this we cut down on transportation and gas emissions.

One of the finest dining experiences I've ever had. My partner and I had the pork belly starter which somehow was incredibly crispy and melted in your mouth at the same time. For mains we ordered a monkfish curry and pan fried hake, both were so exceptional we had to share and experience them together. The staff were absolutely lovely and it wasn't expensive, especially compared to other local places which were priced similarly but weren't nearly as good. In the most stunning of locations too.

3.5 … seriously over priced. We had been recommended this place and booked for lunch . It’s got a great position , but parking is a pain .
Staff are helpful and friendly but the food just did not live up to the hype … and the price was mad for what it was .
I get the feeling they play on the reputation and on the basis most people just won’t come back maybe ?
Starters -
Falmouth scallop (note - singular in the description) with crab Mac and cheese - £15.50.
For one
Yes one scallop . Not a giant , just one , on a very mediocre puddle of macaroni with some crab mixed through . The

Stopped here so the wife and daughter could have cocktails which they had a good selection of at reasonable prices.
As I was driving i had the Peroni Libre non alcoholic.
Lovely spot to have a drink to quench the thirst in the heat and people watch.
With the palm trees aquamarine sea and sunshine you could be anywhere in the world

Fantastic location, with a beautiful view, the staff all seem really lovely.
A lot of seafood sold here not that much on the menu if you don’t like seafood. I had a steak sandwich, it was okay nothing that special, the food is quite expensive for what it is, the sandwich was £17-£20 and it wasn’t a massive thing on steak either.
chips were beautiful tho!

Facing the beach with pristine sand, it's a cafe with a very relaxing view specially during summer. They've got wide selection of food and drinks, prices are alright, ambience is great and perfect for families, not to mention clean and free toilets! It's just two minutes walk from St Ives station. Love it!

We are giving it a 2-star because our servers were very nice, the food was very decent for a beach cafe and they've got a beautiful view of the beach from the restaurant. However, the attitude and service from the host was beyond undesirable. If i wasn't starving, I would've left without having to meet the lovely wait staff who were polar opposite of the host.
Here's what's gone wrong with the host:
1. Upon entrance, he was no where to be found. Ourselves along with 3 other tables waited outside by the door for at least 10 minutes before he leisurely strolled up from the slope, and instead of
