Sunflower Nursery opened in West Dunbartonshire over 25 years ago. Within that time, we have become highly regarded within the local community for our high standard of care and education. Positive feedback from parents confirms that we provide exciting and innovative care for children in an environment that follows their individual interests and presents abundant opportunities for play, interaction and development.
Our safe, secure and caring environment where everyone is welcomed and the rights of the children, staff and parents are valued and respected promoting wellbeing. Our keyworker system which promotes continuity, relationship building and a familiar point of contact for parents. The participation of our parents which is valuable and beneficial to the life of the nursery and their children's learning.
Lisa started her career in childcare over 25 years ago, after qualifying, her first position was working for Glasgow City Council, after several years Lisa decided to open her first nursery close to where she grew up in Hardgate, Clydebank. In 2002 she opened her second nursery in Dalmuir and is extremely passionate about providing excellent high-quality childcare.
At Sunflower we regard meal times and snack times as an essential part of the children's daily routine; a time which provides valuable opportunities for learning and for adults and children to enjoy each other's company.
Eating together is a social time for children and adults to share conversations and the adult at the meal table has the opportunity to role-model social behaviour such as active listening and courteous table manners to the children in a relaxed atmosphere.

My daughter attended Sunflowers full time from 7 months to last week when she finished for school. Highly recommended the nursery, it's a great environment for the kids and the team are all lovely. My daughter had some fantastic experiences while at sunflowers including Eco Committee, Forest School, Dancing teacher and countless other activities over the years.

My son attended Sunflower Nursery and I can't thank enough to all the lovely ladies who took so much care of him and helped him develop so nicely over the last 2 years. I'm really proud of his progress and all he achieved at Nursery. The staff has been constantly in contact with me, and I really felt my wee boy is on great hands.
I strongly recommend this Nursery to all the parents who want the very best start for their kids education .

We have now had 2 of our 3 make their way right through Sunflower with the third still there currently.
I cannot praise the staff enough at the nursery they have been amazing and always go the extra mile. Our daughter has a slight Visual Impairment and so needs a little help occasionally with certain things. The nursery couldn't have been more supportive of her and she's thrived with their help. The staff are all really friendly and the thought that goes in to the learning activities for the kids is brilliant. Communication is another great strong point especially through the Pandemic to keep

Both of my children have attended this nursery from infant stage right up to primary school age. I cannot recommend this nursery highly enough. It provides a safe , friendly and nurturing environment for the kids.
Both children loved their time at nursery, and I know that they have benefited tremendously from a developmental perspective. Both my daughters have attended Sunflower nursery from the time they were babies up until they graduated. The staff are fantastic and really helpful and my kids loved them. The nursery itself is very clean and welcoming and the outdoor garden and play area is outstanding! They really put a lot of effort to make it a great space for the kids and they have done a great job during his pandemic . I would definately recommend

My little boy has been attending since he was 7 months old. From day 1 I've felt at ease in leaving him and this has continued, particularly throughout the progression of moving rooms. He has fun and learns so much each day, his confidence, speech and general milestones have all been progressed from his interactions at nursery. The staff ensure you're at ease and included as a parent and your child feels safe. It really is a wonderful place for your child's development. During the lockdowns when children were unable to attend they also went above and beyond to interact daily, send activity ideas

Really great nursery. My girls love Sunflower and regularly talk about what they have learned and the fun they have. The nursery staff are amazing and my girls have always loved their keyworkers. My girls started Sunflower at 12 months and as a working parent it is a relief to know that the staff look after and care about them. I would definitely recommend!
