This is essential reading for everyone learning to drive. The DVSA have published national standards for driving (and riding) together with a syllabus for people learning to drive. While it is not a 'tick list' of skills to master, it outlines the skills, knowledge and understanding required to become a safe and responsible driver.
Before you can learn to drive a car, moped or motorcycle you must apply for a provisional driving licence. If you already hold a valid full driving licence and want to learn to drive larger vehicles, minibuses or buses you will need to apply for provisional entitlement for these vehicles.
You can apply for your first provisional driving licence for a car, moped or motorcycle using the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency's (DVLA) secure and easy to use online service. Please note, you cannot use this service if you have previously had a provisional licence. You can apply for your provisional driving licence by completing the D1 application form that is available from the DVLA form ordering service or Post Office(R) branches.

Pass Plus is an established training course aimed at new drivers. It was designed by the Driving Standards Agency (DSA) with the help of insurers and the driving instruction industry. Statistics show that new drivers are more likely to have an accident in the first two years after passing their test.
Whether you've just passed your driving test or have held a full driving licence for some time, you may benefit from some additional training for driving on motorways. Refresh your skills and increase your confidence with some motorway lessons. Also, fines for existing offences increased to 100 (eg using a mobile phone, speeding, not wearing seatbelts).
If you're in need of refresher driver training to increase your confidence on the road, this course is for you. In-car tuition will include an initial assessment followed by guided practice and coaching. The training will be geared around your specific needs at a time to suit you and consists of a 2 hour initial lesson.

Extremely disappointing and poor communication to be honest especially considering I persevered to get on his list and waited a long time for him to be available because he had such high ratings. I wanted the "best" for my son but it's been disappointing. There was no follow up after my son was unsuccessful with his first test and several attempts to contact him were just ignored. Not impressed to say the least

Paul is an excellent instructor. Would highly recommend him.
I had a lot of fear around learning to drive and several negative experiences in the past with other instructors had only made things worse but Paul more than made up for that. My favourite thing about him as an instructor was how kind and thoughtful he was. There was genuinely no such thing as a silly question. He would answer all of my queries really thoroughly and provided several online recommendations to help me improve my driving outside of lessons. When I made mistakes (of which there were plenty!) it never felt like he was trying

I should have given Paul a 5 star review earlier!! Paul has been with my all the way until i passed my test in October this year. He is such a calm and patient instructor and i really appreciate his help especially when i have to change my test centre due to the expiry date of my theory test. He rescheduled my lessons promptly so i can get used to the Mussellburgh driving test centre. I was so lucky to pass the test just a week before my theory test expires. it cannot be done without Paul's help. Thank you Paul!

I’ve not been behind the wheel until my first lesson and Paul was very reassuring and calm. This made all the later lessons enjoyable and something I looked forward to. I passed my test first time a few weeks ago and I’ve been on some longer trips by myself since. I highly recommend Paul, he’s knowledgeable, makes learning fun and most of all keeps calm even when you make silly mistakes.

It took me less than three months from the start of my lessons until the day I passed my exam which is super quick for me! Paul prepared me not only for the test but also for real life situations which means that after I got my full driving licence I was ready to go on the road on my own. I passed the test three weeks ago and since then I have been already driving around Edinburgh, parking in various places, going through roundabouts and complex junctions - all fine and even my fiance said he was very impressed with my skills :) I enjoyed my lessons with Paul a lot - he is a really nice person
