In the village of Ridge, set between Shenley and Potters Bar and dating back to 1826, The Old Guinea offers outstanding views of Hertfordshire countryside, with 150 garden and 50 internal seats- all offering good social distancing. Our varied menu offers choices to satisfy every taste with our famous pizzas, made with traditional fresh dough every day, Al forno dishes, salads and delicious 'special' options.
Gluten-free and vegan choices are available and a children's menu is offered. A large selection of good wines, beers and real ales complete our offering. Families are welcome and the garden is a dog friendly area. We went for my Daughter's birthday, it was lockdown so only outside seating in a force 10 gale.

Very crowded when I visited around 3-4pm and the tables were very close. The regular pizzas are quite small so a starter is recommended. With that being said, the food was delicious and their breakfast menu is very good too. They are usually quite for breakfast so I'd recommend visiting early in the day.

The best thing about this place is the view and the chips. With that said, you won’t always have a window seat with a view, especially at weekends when this place is cramped and noisy. The soup is watery. Bruschetta or homemade breadsticks are not crunchy as commonly seen but just small ciabattas and cut-up ciabattas with burned spots here and there. The pizza is only crispy around the edge and soggy in the base, even when we ordered the crispy version. Definitely not authentic Italian. Worse than Prezzo.

Really great pub with delicious food. We booked this for a work Christmas lunch and everyone enjoyed it. The car park is small but there is space to park on the road outside. There was an error with one of the orders but this was rectified quickly and politely. The staff were friendly and we enjoyed the food. Would definitely return again.

Best Italian I've been to in the UK. Food was really exceptional tasty hot and plentiful, we really couldn't fault it. Happy to be served by a happy helpful Anna was so refreshing, she was very efficient. I thoroughly recommend this place for food, staff, atmosphere and a nicely decorated and very clean place. I bet its lovely in the garden on a sunny day too. We wished we lived nearer. Glad we booked as it soon filled up within 15 minutes of us arriving.

Great service and a great menu on offer. The food took a little while to come but when it did it was worth the wait. We came today and it was quite busy but now we understand why. Lots of different pizza's on offer and the servers go around the table to ensure everyone has what they want/need. I can't wait to return with my wife.

Well what can I say, an absolutely awful evening. Poor poor service. My husband booked a table to celebrate my 30th . We had two small children with us. The food was ok, not impressive, but alright. My husband emailed prior to our visit to say that it was my 30th, and if they can do a cake with a candle. ( obviously they did not) even when my… husband mentioned to them on a day, they still didnt do it. The polish lady waiter was rather rude and moody, not a hello, how are you, happy birthday. Just pure ignorance.
We have asked them to book us a taxi, they said it should be here within 15

What an absolute treat.
I went here with the boyff for post shopping dinner and i really liked the place.
The sun was shining, so although we booked a table in the restaurant, the friendly staff asked if we wanted to have our dinner in the garden, so we did.
The views are like something out of "Old England" with rolling green fields and trees and you could easily just while the hours away, relaxing, drinking cool refreshing drinks.
For starters the bruschetta was fresh and really tasty chowed that down quick as you like, the boyff had chicken strips, which we perfectly okay, but nothing

A lovely hide away pub with great food, a wonderful garden overlooking open fields and charming owners, why eat at Pizza Express when you can enjoy this?
We used to come to this 'back water' pub 20 years ago when the food was great, in recent years it has been a sad reflection of British Pub life with an empty car park and we have avoided it.
We saw that it had reopened as a pub/pizza restaurant and popped in for lunch yesterday on a bright sunny day. The dark old pub has been transformed, the new owners who have been here now for a year have created a beautiful garden with lots of tables
