I am so upset with The Holiday Inn, Winchester. I booked this hotel through Booking.com to visit for Christmas celebrations with friends and had to cancel it two days after the free cancellation period expired. This was due to contracting COVID which obviously I didn’t plan. Both Booking.com and the hotel passed me backwards and forwards refusing to listen and repeatedly informing me that I should have cancelled earlier and refusing to refund me in line with their cancellation policies. Errrrr how could I if I didn’t have COVID then???? I then asked if I could change my dates or receive a credit

Overpriced for somewhere that is outside of the city! 10minute drive/1h walk on country road. Great accommodation and hotel, all new and breakfast was lovely but spa isn't included in the price, & you have to pay extra for this. The breakfast if you pay on the day is £10.50 at the desk or £14.50 at the restaurant. Ample parking and staff were very helpful. Bit of a mixed bag of feelings on this hotel. Would recommend if you are driving from afar as you can get a taxi back easily if you do go out drinking in winchester.

I stayed at the hotel on 04/11/2021 and whilst trying to enter my car registration the screen went blue. The lady on check-in said she would get this entered into the system for me so that all would be ok.
I have today received a parking charge of £100 for “illegally parking” on private land.
I had planned to return to the hotel to stay again next week but will instead find alternative accommodation. I now have the joy of trying to find a way to photocopy and print my receipt to then post to a debt chasing company.
**Update** finally just got hold of the hotel after ringing constantly since

Good location as it is right next to the Science centre. The staff were very helpful and friendly- best service ever! The hotel offers a good restaurant and.good space to relax. The bedrooms were comfortable and quite. We only wish the room had some personality. All in all a good place to stay for a short break.

The bedroom was fine but the restaurant - oh boy, where to start.
It cost my wife and I over £100 for 3 drinks and 5 courses (a shared starter, then a main and a desert each).
That's a pretty hefty bill and to make matters worse, the food is simply not good enough for them to charge those prices. It's a Holiday Inn not a Michelin star after all.
Not only is their menu pricey and very limited, but our main course arrived during our starter and my £24 (yes, twenty four pounds sterling!) ribeye steak arrived warm (and I'm being generous here) whereas it should've been hot.
And as if all of that
