We're proud of the great quality of our food - and delighted to say it's won numerous awards.

We offer a wide range of specialities throughout the day, so feel free to join us whenever suits you. And if the weather holds out, then why not enjoy a meal outside on our terrace? We offer some tasty gluten-free options, and always provide details of produce origin where possible. Plus we offer a special menu for our delicious Sunday lunch with all the trimmings, and a dedicated children's menu for little hands.
Services
If you require information about the presence of allergens in any of our food or drink we would be happy to provide it in advance of your visit, or please ask your server on the day. We're open seven days a week for breakfast, lunch and dinner, serving beautiful British fare crafted from seasonal, locally sourced Hampshire produce.
Located in the heart of Southampton, The White Star Tavern is surrounded by art and culture, maritime heritage and a cosmopolitan atmosphere right on our door step. Central to an animated and energetic scene at the weekend, this is a fantastic location for a city getaway, a chance to see the city's sights and sounds at its finest.
While Southampton isn't too tricky to navigate, before you head out exploring on your own, you might benefit from one of See Southampton's guided sightseeing walking tours. You'll get the opportunity to learn more about Southampton and visit historically interesting sites - the Titanic Walk being a highlight.

Nice place and friendly staff, the room was lovely and had everything you would need it’s a little loud in the night as it’s next to a couple of other pubs but not too bad.
Only downside was the breakfast, everything was overcooked and wasn’t very nice at all, so I’d skip the breakfast option and go elsewhere.

This is a cosy small hotel with alot of patina. The hotel part has its own guest entrance, but can also be accessed through the restaurant at ground floor. They have very nice food there, and the rooms are nice and clean. I will use this hotel on my next visit as well.

Really lovely pub with a few boutique rooms upstairs. We stayed and had breakfast in the morning too. Their chef had a family emergency so a member of waiting staff had to step in and cook all the guests breakfasts. They did a fantastic job and it didn't affect our stay at all. The room was well equipped and was decorated nicely, however it was incredibly hot for a stay in autumn and we had to keep the fan on all night to try and cool it a little further. If I'm back in the area again I'd quite likely book it again and will absolutely recommend to others too.

Comfy rooms, very clean and we somehow managed to get a very very good price!!! Stayed here twice and the tall gentleman (sorry we forgot to get your name hahha!) who checked us in on the night shift on Sunday was extremely welcoming and helpful, as was the lovely lady who served our breakfast the next morning 😊😊 they’re both great assets to the pub and made our stay lovely. Our breakfast was fab and prompt and I will recommend this place highly to everyone and will be back soon for the third time!!!! Thank you very much all 😊😊😊😊😊😊😊

It’s perfectly placed first of all. We stayed for 5 days and used the car once. There is no parking but a public one very close by will cost Β£8 per day. Docks, city centre, museums, red jet and all manner of eateries easy walking distance. It’s a party street so be ready for happy sounds coming up from the street.
Our room was ok at the price and we are told a refurb is imminent. The historic feel of the place is really nice, you are walking in the footsteps of titanic passengers who stayed there before sailing.
The real joy of the white star is the staff, Bridget and her team are all awesome

The food here is a hidden gem! The burger I had here is probably one of the very best I've ever had, and certainly the best I've had in Southampton. Fantastically juicy, amazing sauce - complements to the chef!

We stayed for two nights and would rate the stay as great, nice room and a good selection of food and drinks. The location is perfect! The staff were very nice with a special mention for Prince, he was really friendly and his hosting skills are fantastic! He also gave us some useful tips on some nice areas around Southampton. I would 100% recommend The White Star Tavern.
