Myland Primary School is a larger than average primary school, situated in a fast growing part of North Colchester. We are a well established, over subscribed and very successful school: even though we have twelve classes, we still retain a 'family feel' and visitors unfailingly comment on the special atmosphere found at our school.
Each team is led by a Team Leader, who co-ordinates the work of the team. Teachers plan carefully and are adept at providing high quality experiences across the range of subjects covered by the National Curriculum. Standards across the school are high and, in recognition of our expertise in teaching Phonics and Early Reading, we are one of 34 schools across the country to be designated as an English Hub by the Department for Education.

Services
Whether you are a current pupil or parent, have a past association with our school or are simply browsing, you are very welcome! We are a thriving, friendly and successful community school of 336 pupils, situated in North Colchester. Our aim is to provide the highest quality of teaching and learning for every pupil in a secure and happy environment.
Myland Primary School is recognised as a Healthy School and has achieved Healthy Schools status. Our school meals are prepared 'from scratch' by our Catering Manager, Mr. Bosse and his team, using fresh local produce and meat from a local butcher. Amber is for snacks that may be brought to school as an occasional treat, no more than once a week.
The curriculum at Myland Primary School is based upon the National Curriculum 2014 and provides a broad and balanced education that meets the needs of all children: our belief is that all children can and will achieve. Children are given opportunities to develop as independent, confident and successful learners in a language rich environment.
At our school, Phonics is taught daily throughout Foundation and Key Stage 1. We use a structured approach to systematic synthetic phonics, based on 'Letters and Sounds'. Our approach to phonics uses an integrated synthetic phonics programme to teach both reading and writing. Progress is assessed every half term and children are grouped accordingly.
We are delighted that Myland Primary School is one of the chosen 34 schools and has responsibility for establishing and developing an English Hub in the East of England. We have an English Hub Lead who drives this exciting project - please direct enquiries about the English Hubs programme to Rebecca Jarrett.
