Choosing a school for your child is a very important decision and we hope that what you see and read will give you some insight into what makes Elmstead a happy school and one that is always looking to improve and move forwards. Our team of teaching and support staff, school governors, parents and community all work together for the benefit of all our children.

We are determined to create an inclusive culture of learning where all children will be challenged in their thinking, achieve and strive to become lifelong learners. We do this by providing a learning environment that is stimulating and challenging; a broad and balanced curriculum and by enabling each child to develop a 'Growth Mindset'.
Services
At Elmstead Primary School we expect everyone to show mutual respect and believe that everyone should be given opportunities to grow academically, socially, morally, culturally and spiritually.

Through our values of: Courage, Open-Mindedness, Nurture, Endeavour, Communication and Teamwork, we will help prepare children positively for life in modern Britain and promote democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty and mutual respect for and tolerance of those with different faiths and beliefs and for those without faith.
Our intent is to have a broad, balanced, creative and engaging curriculum in which we offer support for children to become well-rounded individuals who contribute to our school community and society in general. Our children should develop into confident risk takers who, through a purposeful, meaningful and relevant curriculum, become both reflective and forward thinking.
Our SENCO, currently Mrs K Smith, is available Tuesdays and Thursdays. Along with the Leadership Team, she is responsible for managing the SEN budget.

The SENCO not only ensures that all adults supporting a child are working together as effectively as possible, but for judging the quality and impact of the interventions put in place and determining - alongside Governors - the strategic development of SEN policy and provision, evaluating how inclusive the school is for all our pupils.
The School Council plays an important part in the life of the school, with the ideas and opinions of the children highly valued. This year we have decided to involve the majority of the school in our School Council to encourage democracy across the school and to give more children a say. From Classes 1 - 6, the children are split into 12 groups to allow them space and time to discuss the weekly issue.
Take a look at all the tasks we completed in Task Master Week, Miss Woods is so proud of us! At school we are learning this song to celebrate the end of the EYFS, can you all practise it at home! If you are not coming into school can you send me a video of your child dancing and singing to this song which I can use for a special surprise for Class R children.
