In 2015 we launched as an exclusive AVEDA salon, the only one of it's kind in Barnstaple. Within our unique salon we have two beauty treatment rooms, a relax room, private shampoo area, nail bars and large split level salon & gents room, which is easily accessable by just a few steps.

Nirvana opened it's doors in 2011 by owner & stylist Kathy Mcguane who had worked in London for 18 years then later moved to Devon, to live the dream with her family. Our relaxed and welcoming atmosphere is always commented on and our complimentary fresh coffee, range of teas plus a few extra treats to enjoy helping to make your visit even more enjoyable.
We're a happy, friendly but professional team at Nirvana. We offer an extensive styling and colouring team, at a range of levels to suit your requirements. Whether you want a classic style, a fashion-forward update, highlights or colour correction our team will be able to help. Book in for a complimentary consultation with one of our experts.
All spa treatments include the use of our changing room, lockers, shower and Zen room where you can relax after your treatments before heading back into reality with a caffeine free aveda tea, glass of water and fruit skewer. Facial treatments are recommended on a weekly or monthly basis to achieve and maintain optimal results.

I came to Nirvana as I am a fan of Aveda products and salons and felt safe going there.
What a mistake!!!!!. I had roots done and came out with exactly same length roots, they did offer to put it right and I got a specialist to redo it. I now have tuffs of hair where it's all snapped off. I am absolutely mortified ! The 1st lady that ruined my hair was very unfriendly rude and did not apologise. The colour specialist who melted my hair off which will take years to grow back did send a refund but this does not cover the coldness of hearing of the damage. A case of thinking they are better than

I had my arrived on time to my appointment. I got a wonderful greeting, with a smile & offered to take my coat. This lovely lady also offered a refreshing drink or hot drink to take the chilly air away. I had my hair done by Danica, who is a phenomenal. Danica knows exactly what the needs are for all hair types & held a friendly conversation. The atmosphere is perfect quiet & calm. Nice easy music to listen to & sing along (quite hard to resist the head bobbing to particular songs)

First time going to Nirvana. The people are so friendly and welcoming. Took a lot for me to get my hair done due to my anxiety but was made to feel like iv been there 100 times before. Mike done an amazing job of my hair did exactly what I wanted took his time explaining what he was doing. So pleased with the results.
