Services
From the Irish Potato famine in 1840 - Irish immigration to Leeds gathered pace and many Irish Catholics settled in Leeds. In 1890 - Sacred Heart parish was founded by provost of Leeds Cathedral called Browne. He bought a cottage on the corner of Poplar street and Burley road. Later Jesuits took over and built a church on the site of the old cottage which became the church of the local area, Sacred Heart Church.
He made an immediate positive impact on the community and continues to serve our school and parish with dedication and care. The Parish of Jeanne Jugan serves the Headingley area of Leeds. Our school is served by Our Lady or Lourdes church on Cardigan Lane. Two schools fall within the parish with the other church, St Urban's, serving St Urban's Primary School.
As Faith Leaders, our pupil's first responsibilty is to uphold the values of our school - Sacred Heart. Supporting children in other classes to prepare for their class and whole school collective worship. Work closely with the Mini Vinnies to timetable fundraising activities and Christian Action throughout this year.
The gifts of the Holy Spirit are what are given by God. They make us more attentive to the voice of God. The fruits of the Holy Spirit are the effects of the gifts. Each class have a fruit of the Holy Spirit that they uphold. At Sacred Heart Each class has taken a fruit of the Holy Spirit as a focus for the year.
At Sacred Heart we are blessed to have a real diversity and special cultural mix. Our values of Love, Mercy, Comfort, Inspiration and Peace promote an outward looking community that looks to learn from other faiths and bring them closer. We are proud of our multifaith community and see the school as an example of how a Catholic school can be open and evangelical in its outlook.
