Room noisy. Needs decorating. Shower useless. No chef. No nexplanation or response from owner.Staff nice and as helpful as can be expected on problem of lack of chef. Owner should value his guests and staff more. Car park like a dirt track. Saving grace was the view.

Sadly our experience of this hotel was not great at all, but what is mostly sad is the potential of this place is huge and it just isn't living up to that. I could forgive the rooms being super dated however they were absolutely not clean. There were sequins on the floor (I assume from a previous guest) and on the bed side tables which you would assume should not have been there if they had been wiped down and cleaned. Surfaces were dusty, there were a couple of black curly hairs in the shower and the bathroom is mouldy. We stayed over the weekend and unfortunately the chef was sick one morning

Stunning sea view from the front of the hotel, which is its saving grace. Lovely evening meals served by a relaxed staff. The bedroom was clean and comfortable but the furniture very dated. The downstairs would benefit from being decorated.

Really enjoyed our stay. Lovely hotel overlooking the bay so beautiful views. Nice seating area outside with a bar close by. Breakfast was good with plenty of choice. You can walk to the nearest beach and harbour but it is fairly steep so you may need to use a car if you stay here.

Ok for the price.. Cornwall can be very expensive this time of year so, I thought the Porth Avallen was fairly priced. Nice lady at the reception. Food was good. I got an hello off the boss man. Bit basic in the room, but, like I said, for the price it's ok.

Lovely friendly and helpful staff, nothing was too much trouble. Superb food for breakfast and dinner. Brilliant location with outstanding views. Bedroom was very dated, no headboard and poor decor. Although the shower was new it trickled out. We did report the shower but nothing happened.
