Tarantino is part of a family of restaurants in the Fairfield County area. The Marchetti-Tarantino family, whose roots run deep in Gravina in Puglia, southern Italy, opened their first restaurant, Maria's Trattoria, in Norwalk in 1983. Columbus Park Trattoria was then opened in Stamford in 1985, followed by Osteria Applausi in Old Greenwich and Tarantino Restaurant in Westport in 1994.
Maria Marchetti makes all of Tarantino Restaurant's homemade pasta, and you can taste the difference. Maria's homemade pasta is only part of the great care the family takes with all of the dishes they serve, including the careful selection of all ingredients.

I am actually surprised this has such great ratings- food is just okay and service was slow… nice servers but slow especially for a Wednesday. We sat down at 7pm and didn’t get our entrees until 8:45. Caesar salad was small and basic, tomatoes in the Caprese were basically still green, but the chicken Scarpariello was good (doesn’t come with any pasta or sides but tasted good). All around just one big “eh” of an experience.

The place to go for outstanding Italian food with service to match. The oysters were so fresh and flavorful you must give them a try. Every course blended flavors from Italy and served hot. The atmosphere, food, and service took this from a night at a fine restaurant to an unforgettable dining experience. Can’t wait to go back and try the lunch specials. Absolutely five star!!

The best raw oysters you'll ever have are here! They were extremely fresh and came with an amazing cocktail sauce. I ordered the Brasato Tartufato and oh my goodness it was spectacular! The scallops and shrimp were cooked to perfection, and the sauce that embodied the meal had amazing flavor. The staff is also very friendly. I'll definitely be coming back here.

Very good Italian restaurant with great service, terrific wine list and most importantly good food. The pasta dishes are made fresh with great ingredients. The main courses are exceptional too! Make sure to try the limoncello along with your dessert. Can't beat Tuesday night half off bottled wines! A must try of you are in Westport!
