My wife & myself along with 2 friends had a lovely stay here in early November. On checking in we were made very welcome. On the Covid front, we felt very safe & all necessary 'rules' are definitely adhered to by all staff. Breakfast was exceptional and certainly set us up for the day. I would definitely recommend a stay here.

Fairly basic room, it is an old building with rooms spread out, plus up narrow stairs which could be difficult if got large case.
The bathroom was good and functional, breakfast in the morning was excellent there is not a lot of choice, had full Scottish breakfast consisting of 1 fried egg, bacon, blackpudding, square slice, potato scone, beans and half tomato it was well presented very good.
They advertise there restaurant and Gin bar but they were all closed, think they just open at weekend bit of a shame, there seem to be just the one girl working there but she was very good.

What a lovely team of staff.
Nothing was too much trouble.
The food was exceptional and fairly priced.
Breakfast was divine in a spacious restaurant.
We had the triple room 6 which was up 3 flights of stairs, in the roof, which was OK for us. Quite query but watch the room door on entry as cut at an angle as this is an older style building.
The room was clean and all hostess facilities were present. So more than satisfactory to us.

Our stay was lovely untill we realused that in asking for an upgraded room we were given a family room and charged an extra £235 extra for another room, yes this was my fault for asking for an upgrade and thought when they showed us to the family room that was all they had left. The room for 4 people was used by 2 people and didn't even have a decent shower it was 1 attached to the bath taps. Surely when you ask for an upgrade you are asking for a better room not 2 rooms so dissapointing as the hotel and staff were nice.
