We visited the Hawk Inn for one night on Christmas Day. Our room was freezing and the heating not working. We reminded reception that the heating was not working in our room and we promised that heating will be on in a half an hour when we returned it was absolutely freezing. We sat in our coats while we asked someone few times to help with heating and half am hour later someone came up with a tiny electric heater.
Despite advertising the availability of cooked breakfast it just didn't happen on Boxing Day.
There were cereals and 3 jars of jams and croissants. How disappointing!

It was quite late on Saturday afternoon when we arrived. We were a group of 6 and all hungry from Karting at Thruxton. The Hawk Inn is a lovely welcoming and warm pub with a really good atmosphere.
A couple of tables were pushed together and our afternoon began. The service was very friendly and attentive to our various choices. Food was very good and all plates were cleaned, always a great sign of good food.
I had the pie which was served on a board with gravy, bit weird as I wasn't sure where to pour it so that it didnt run into the gully around the edge. I made a hole in the mash and poured

Lovely location for hotel and restaurant; lots of open space over the road and by a very clear stream. Had poussin in the restaurant which was excellent but the service was very slow. One course dinner took 2 hours. Staff all charming. Breakfast was a bit mean; continental breakfast only included. You had to pay for anything cooked

Went on a Monday evening but surprised at how busy it was. Staff wore masks. Not overly happy with the menu. In fact I googled it prior to visit but couldn't have what I wanted as it had been taken off the menu. Menu is same as Peat Spade so beware. Overall evening was great because of friends I was with. Not so happy with food.

We went for dinner here during the week. The village setting is stunning with 'chocolate box' thatched cottages, surrounding the pub. We sat on the attractive patio area at the front, which has a large cover to protect you from the elements. There's also a spacious garden opposite with bench seating and umbrellas. Dogs are permitted outside, but I'm not sure if the same rule applies for indoors. We pre-booked because it's a really popular place. Masks must be worn until seated and it's table service. The staff were friendly and efficient providing a great service. Gluten free options are available

I stayed and ate at the Hawk Inn while in town for business. It's unassuming exterior holds a secret gem within it's walls. The Hawk Inn is a truly lovely small bed and breakfast type hotel. The rooms are small but cosy, there is a bathroom ensuite with a really great shower, and the bed is incredibly comfortable. Free wifi is a huge blessing as I needed to get some work done during my stay.
The dining area is really nice, has a sophisticated feel to it, and the menu for dinner is divine. For a small town on a Monday night the restaurant really filled up! I had the piri piri chicken
