Went here a few months ago and looking forward to coming back. The food here was incredible, as was the staff who had such great food and drink knowledge. Nothing was too much trouble for them. When the weather is better you must sit out in their huge garden on the large tables.. you won't ever have such a peaceful pint outdoors. Will be back soon when next in holmfirth!
EDIT: Came back here after the previous good review and had a very different experience. This time we had a meal for four people and the service really let it down. We was waiting a long time to not just order but also have any

Had the twixmas menu, we chose the cheese and onion pie. It had been sliced and then warmed in the oven. My son had the burger which he enjoyed. Would return not at Christmas as i think the food would be better. The pub itself was lovely inside and very welcoming. Would like to give higher than 3 stars when we return for the 2nd time.

We got married at the Huntsman on the 30th December, the day was amazing. All our guests mentioned how much they enjoyed the day especially the food! We had a lot of changes due to covid nothing was too much… trouble and they accommodated last minute changes and cancellations. A huge thank you to Claire who went the extra mile before and during the wedding we appreciate all your help! Thanks again 🤍

We booked a table at The Huntsman as our post walk meal, the surrounding’s and pub itself are beautiful. We were spoilt for choice with the menu but decided on Lemon baked salmon with prawns and the steak pie.… Wow! The salmon was baked to perfection and very tasty and the steak pie was packed with tender beef, even our little girls burger was amazing! All reasonably priced too. We will definitely be back!

Stopped here on the way back from Manchester for Sunday as a walk in.
They managed to find us a table with a smile.
The Sunday dinners were on but we both fancied their Steak & Ale Pie with Mash and a side of Buttered Greens, we were not disappointed and the food was lovely and a nice big portion of Pie which was packed with delicious and chunky pieces of Steak. I also tried a pint of the Special Plum Pudding Bitter which was tasty.
We will definitely return but will book in advance next time.
The Pub itself has a nice decor and atmosphere

Absolutely love this pub.
So homely and inviting!!
The food is just so moorish, we go alot for Sunday lunch, and you can see from the pics, as to why! Reasonably priced, great location, busy friendly inviting pub.
We have also stayed over here and have to say the duvet offer they have is excellent value for money.
Also dog and kid friendly :)
