Crown Kindergartens is an open-plan, private, family run day nursery in Wimbledon that has been caring for children since 1974. Our nursery has a lovely friendly, homely feel that can be lacking in more corporate owned nurseries. We are proud to have received 'Good' in all areas of provision by OFSTED.
We are very lucky and enjoy a wonderful large garden space (rare for London), providing children with exciting opportunities to explore, have fun and learn in a safe and secure environment. A covered area allows all-weather play and whether it's discovering dinosaurs, water play or the mud kitchen, we offer exciting and interactive play for children to learn and develop every day.

Services
We are registered and approved by OFSTED for our quality childcare and pre-school education for children between the ages of 10 months and five years. A rich learning environment is provided where children can learn, are given appropriate responsibility, and are allowed to make errors, decisions and choices.
Our nursery team is vocational, highly qualified in childcare and teaching, experienced and fun loving; attending regular training days and courses to expand their knowledge and update their skills. As a day nursery committed to offering an outstanding quality service, we fully support and encourage all levels of training and currently have staff members working towards even higher levels of childcare qualifications.
Our nursery is located in a quiet, secure, residential area in the heart of Wimbledon, within walking distance of the mainline and underground stations, on one fifth of an acre of land. Our amazing garden is a beautiful green oasis of adventure for the children. It has been divided into four split-level 'play zones', all made fully secure with high wooden fences surrounding the garden.
At Crown Kindergarten we follow the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum and we believe in learning through play and preparation for school. We recognise each child's individuality, efforts and achievements and, therefore, plan a curriculum that stimulates a love of learning.
Our vision encompasses our fun approach to learning, meaning that each child develops into a happy and confident individual when encouraged to be independent within a safe stimulating setting.A rich learning environment is provided where children are given appropriate responsibility and are allowed to make errors, decisions and choices.

Our nursery has an amazing garden, which has been recently renovated to provide children with a variety of experiences, challenges and learning activities, all in a safe environment. Outdoor play and exploration are an essential part of learning and developing and with our open plan nursery set up, children have access to the garden at all times.

Both of my sons love Crown! They are so happy there and the staff are wonderful and very encouraging. Very pleased all around and have recommended Crown to several of my friends who have also enrolled their children there as well. I wouldn’t want my kids to be anywhere else for the early development years. Very nurturing and safe environment for children.

Both of my children have attended Crown Kindergartens. I have always felt confident that they were well cared for. I was often surprised by the things my daughter learned there - reading and counting etc - things we hadn't started at home yet. And they recognized my son's obsession with cars and trains and made sure he always had some to play with - even letting him choose which ones to get when they bought new ones. It's fantastic value for the service they provide, with good quality food, nappies and visits from Zoolab and Teddy Tennis to name a few. I wholeheartedly recommend Crown!

Crown is just one big cuddle! My one year old twins were welcomed with open arms and loved their year playing, painting, drawing, reading ... the list goes on. The outside area is fantastic Allowing lots of energy to be expended!! The staff were lovely and looked after the twins ever so well. I would recommend Crown without hesitation.

I would give less than one star if it were possible. It was the first nursery experience of our 3 y/o boy and it was traumatic for him.
The mindset here is quite old fashioned, you as a parent is not welcome inside and they do not make home visits to build trust with the child etc etc.
They think the child is a package and do not care anything else but getting and giving back in well condition.
Also, the staff did not keep their promises at the beginning. They said they were experienced in bilingual children and it turned out to be wrong. They were going to inform us weekly with photographs

I cannot believe that someone would leave such a poor review for the nursery that looked after my child for 4 years, the trust that I had and still have for this nursery is most important to me, leaving my most treasured possesion in their care whilst I went to work to provide for my family. I am not one for leaving reviews in the past however this has changed my views and I will now make a concious effort to try and support those who have given me such great experiences.
First of all my daughter has two languages and this has always been supported at the nursery, from joining and giving a list

Previous negative review and then spat of positive reviews prompted me to post my take here.
My son stayed at the nursery for 2 months. He did not settle well. We were told to take him off. Obviously this was difficult for everyone involved including the nursery. But I think several things could be better:
1. Poor communication. My son’s progress book mentioned that he slept for about 2 hours in the afternoon for first 5-6 weeks. Then suddenly it changed to ‘he never slept well’. All written diary documentation categorically changed from that day. And the difference was blamed on junior

My son has just left crown as we have moved out the area. He attended from the age of 1 to 3.5 and it his experience has been simply fantastic throughout.
He quickly formed good relationships with the staff and was forever talking about them when he got home. The development in his language and confidence was outstanding, and I feel a lot of this was as a direct result of interaction with the staff at Crown. He would frequently reference the values that were being taught at the nursery at home! Telling us that we "have to wait for our friends before we eat" and how important it is to be kind.

My daughter has been at Crown since she was 10 months old and has always absolutely loved it. The staff are warm and friendly with her – and us! – and seem to show real affection for all the children. There’s a family-like atmosphere.
I was drawn to Crown because of the open-plan layout of the nursery: it felt safe, and useful that the younger children get to know the older children and learn from them. When it came time for her to move into the older groups, the transition wasn’t difficult at all.
The nursery has a conscious focus on being ‘kind and nice’ and my daughter has great
