Broadfield Nursery is a 50 place day nursery in Crawley, offering places for 3 month to 5 year olds. We are registered with Ofsted and therefore adhere to the regulations set down in the National Standards. We follow the adult to child ratios as set out under the Children's Act 1989. The nursery has an open plan interior, which is bright and spacious.

The room is arranged into workshop areas, where a variety of experiences are available, for children to move around and investigate at their own stage of development.
Services
Broadfield Nursery charges by the hour to support the most flexible way of offering childcare. Free Entitlement to childcare is provided by the Government. It allows some 2 years old and all 3 and 4 years old access to free, good quality, flexible early education or childcare.

Children can use up to a 570 hours each year, at Broadfield Nursery you can access 15 hours a week term time only or stretch the funding all year round by accessing 11 hours per week. Some 3 and 4 year olds of working parent/careers can access additional hours to extend the Free Entitlement.
The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) 2014 is a document for us, as early year's providers, to help us support your child's learning and development from birth to five years old. All early years providers must follow the EYFS 2014. All registered early years providers are inspected to make sure they meet the legal requirements of the EYFS.
How does the early years setting know if children need extra help and what should I do if I think my child may have special educational needs or disabilities?. The staff at Broadfield Nursery are qualified and very experienced in recognising children's learning and development needs.

We observe and evaluate each child on a daily basis and use this information to plan a stimulating learning environment that supports children's differing stages of development and informs our Learning Journals.Every 6 weeks the Key person (KP) will review all observations taken, and set out next steps for the forthcoming 6 weeks.
We believe that children settle best when they have a familiar member of staff to relate to, who knows them and their parents well, and who can meet their individual needs. We feel that this benefits the child, the parents, the staff and the Nursery by providing secure relationships in which children thrive, parents have confidence, staff are committed and we as a nursery are a happy and dedicated place to attend or work in.
In the nursery we adopt a child-centred approach to learning, where the children are free to play throughout the day and develop their skills through play. However there are routines to the day, although these need to be flexible to adapt to the child's needs and interests.

Children choose from a wide range of experiences available throughout the nursery and garden, some led by adults and some that the children will explore and develop themselves.During this time we also provide a rolling snack bar, where children are supported to help themselves to fresh fruit, vegetables and a healthy carbohydrate option.
