With 4 showrooms of ladies separates, knitwear, tops, trousers and accessories spread over 2 floors, together with 3 ground floor areas for the men containing suits, jackets, trousers, shirts, knits, accessories etc, including a dedicated formal hire room. Services
There's been a clothing retailer on our site for over 160 years. We know that Daniel and Hannah Clarabut were operating as a draper and milliner in 1843 and the business passed to William "Billy" Clarabut in about 1880. The business is named after Charles Mortimer Allen who took over in about 1910, who adding tailoring.
Allen's specialises in supplying the clothes conscious man with classic British and European brands including Santinelli Jackets, Gurteen jackets and trousers, Formal trousers are supplied by Meyer.
Hanging alongside the more formal are casualwear collections from such brands as Kings Road shirts and Fynch-Hatton shirts and knits, Chinos and casual trousers from Meyer, together with fabulous, machine washable lambswool V's and Crews - made especially for us using Scottish yarns.Spring 2021 sees the introduction of "A Fish Named Fred" - a Dutch casualwear brand with some VERY funky prints.

We visited this very elegant traditional tailoring and hire shop with gentleman's wedding suits and formal wear in the beautiful village of Olney.
There is also a wide range of ladies and gentleman's clothing for sale too.
The customer service was spot on, we arrived early for our appointment but this wasn't a problem, very friendly and professional made us feel welcomed and safe.
There is a free 3hr car park opposite, access into the shop was on a level path, all of menswear is on the ground floor, changing room are located on the same with one small step, staff were very helpful.

My sister hired her groomsmen tails from here. Lovely welcoming staff. Thorough measurement service and all the suits were immaculate. Only quarms would be that the pocket squares were too small, the cravats were all different styles and the shirts were folded and not hung meaning I had to iron my shirt myself.

Great service, quality suits - we used Allens for our recent wedding. Friendly, impeccable service from Ashley and the ladies. If you’re based in Bedford or Milton Keynes, it’s well worth a short trip in the car to get the service you’ll only find at a long-established, independent shop. Really great place.
