I was impressed by the care I received from the staff, the friendliness and the concern for my comfort; The efficiency and consideration of the surgeon and the follow-up procedures. I can honestly say that the level of care I received both before and after my operation was second to none. In short, a fantastic hospital with a wonderfully caring, dedicated team.

I had surgery at Ashtead Hospital today.
The staff are just amazing. Extremely polite and professional! I was feeling very anxious but was put at ease very quickly by the staff.
Angie was looking after me today. Even thought she was busy she did all she could do to make me as comfortable as possible. Very much appreciated!

So this is a review, BEFORE I go to the hospital. I've been referred by Aviva, which I have a healthcare plan with, for a gastro problem I've been having. It may seem strange to review before... but all experiences are important. I've been referred by my local NHS GP. I waited on the phone for private care for around 8 minutes and spent another 20 minutes on the phone talking about symptoms and waiting for the receptionist to sort a day and time out. To be honest, this was extremely long and it seems like their systems aren't fit for purpose if you have to wait 20 minutes to find a consultant and

Making enquiries for self funding treatment. Leaving numerous messages at reception for radio-ology. Also left messages numerous on radio-ology voice mail and still no return calls. Eventually due to the very poor service and breakdown in basic communications i and had to call head office to speak to anyone! I managed to speak to a Matron and then hand delivered my post to them the next day. No conformation or feedback. Tried calling main reception to chase up and for half hour and still couldn't speak to anyone. Really poor service and very disappointing.

I would like to update my last review. I spoke to Sophie and the staff on the radiology reception who was totally professional and understanding. I recieved numerous and genuine apologies from the whole team. I was treated with dignity and respect from everyone. Like all good companies I also recieved some honest feedback and didnt hide or make any excuses with their telephone system and this has now been changed for the best.
All the staff were a credit! I would highly recommend.
Thankyou to everyone.

I can’t speak highly enough of Ashtead hospital. I was really quite anxious about my upcoming visit as my last hospital experience was, looking back back at it compared to Ashtead, an absolute disgrace. That was St Helliers just to be clear. Had my own room, the nursing staff were so friendly and thorough it was almost like being in a posh hotel. I have always found hospitals to be extremely challenging environments and always come away stressed and unhappy, so much so that I have even avoided going when I’ve broken bones. Not Ashtead, I actually found it surprisingly relaxing. So I have to

MRI not done after 5 weeks of waiting for it. Only because I couldn’t find a babysitter for my kids (8&9) with anyone. Reseptionist gave me a look like I’ve done smtg very bad bringing them there. Other staff was telling me that it is my fault basically. And they can’t help me today. Will have to wait for another month for an appointment. Very negative experience. Even if it was my fault. They did call me a few times and never mentioned “kids not allowed” rule. When my son had his mri done 8 years ago, my husband and I were present in the room with him.
But hey ho I have plenty of time

I have been off an on visiting the hospital with my family and parents over the past 15 years.
I am sorry to say that over the past years there is a marked down spiral of service.
The staff seem under so much pressure that there is no time for them to extend simple pleasantries.
Just the other day I was checking in a relative and the receptionists was so busy on her computer that she didn't even look up when she said can I help you. We checked in and there was zero eye contact.
Directors - your hospital is under staffed and it shows. The staff are feeling it and the patients can sense it.

Writing this review on behalf of a relative without direct computer access; a very disappointing experience after going in for invasive back surgery. Brusque staff, no drinking water or soap in my room, poor communications (no communications from the surgeon either before/after surgery other than a very quick moment to sign a consent form). I would not choose to go back to Ashtead Hospital again and have submitted a complaint direct to the hospital also.
Two weeks on I still have zero information on what was actually done during the surgery.
On the plus side, some of the staff were very supportive
