Looking for something new to read, or seeking a gift? Come to The Bell Bookshop, an independent bookshop which stocks over 20,000 titles. You can find books here that the chain stores ignore, discovering everything from old childhood favourites to your newest obsession. Located in the attractive market town of Henley-on-Thames, The Bell Bookshop makes an ideal stop on a family day out.
We're close to the river and the car park, and history lovers may be interested to know that the shop itself dates back to the 18th century. Visit us for a wonderful book-browsing experience, and let our friendly and knowledgeable staff find the perfect book for you. Being an 'indie', The Bell Bookshop offers a different and more eclectic range to the chain shops.

A traditional and lovely bookstore I go to whenever I'm back at home in the UK. They don't mind if you mill about reading the books forever. They'll politely offer to help and then leave you alone if you want to be left alone. They probably have whatever you're looking for, with an ideal selection of all sorts of new/classic fiction, kids/YA books, travel, poetry and a newly expanded history section. And they'll offer to order anything if they don't have it. Plus they're not packed with *just* crime and thrillers like WHSmiths across the road (though it's certainly there if you want it 🙂.) Probably one of the best independent bookshops in the county let alone the country. Friendly staff and a really bookshop feeling that hasn't lost out to the commercial world and retains its identity. Of course you might find a classic at Oxfam for a bit less but for anything new it's got to be from here
