Harmonic Osteopathy
A unique form of treatment, training and risk assessment for all occupational pain and injury. My unique brand of osteopathic treatment will teach your body how to not be stiff nor in pain. The benefit of not being part of the established health care system is we can adapt the guidelines and evidence to be actually effective.

All osteopaths study for four or five years for an undergraduate degree. This is similar to a medical degree but with more emphasis on anatomy and musculoskeletal medicine. Therefore Osteopaths are trained to diagnose your problem and then decide which is the best treatment to help it. By law, osteopaths must register with the General Osteopathic Council (GOsC).
Services
This is my take on Osteopathy treatment. If you have searched google for an osteopath, physio or chiropractor in Edinburgh you are probably in need of help with a pain or stiffness. You have come to the right place. My unique brand of osteopathic treatment will encourage your body's own self-healing mechanisms.
Techniques like acupuncture have been used independently around the world for over 3000 years. In the UK, acupuncture is one of the most popular and well-established complementary therapies, with approximately three million people undergoing this kind of treatment each year.

Traditional acupuncture is based on the Chinese belief that the human body is controlled by a life force known as Qi (pronounced 'chee') that circulates the body along channels called meridians. In order to remain healthy, traditional theory dictates that Qi must flow correctly along these meridians.
I provide a unique range of occupational health and ergonomic prevention and treatment options that are cost-effective, educational and flexible. They exceed the Health and Safety at Work requirements to be actually effective. Aligning everyone's work station perfectly or ensuring everyone keeps their spine straight and bends their knees won't effect the incidence of pain.
You can buy an online Manual Handling Training (MHT) course for 15. This will teach you little more than you can learn for free from the HSE website except that it's packaged nicely and you get a certificate to keep you up to date with legislation. Almost without fail onsite or online MHT courses will follow the format of the HSE which, if you have seen, is of marginal benefit to the vast majority of manual workers.
Most large corporations will perform their DSE via self-assessment. This is in the form of a tick box list that the staff fill out themselves in order to see if their set up is correct. This is the most cost effective way of complying with the minimum requirements by law. It is also probably the least effective.

Before I saw Robbie I thought I was in constant pain, my movement was severely restricted and my sleep was badly affected. I thought I was heading for knee surgery. After just a few visits Robbie has helped me learn how to move my knee again. I am once again able to trust my knee in all sorts of movement, I am pain free and sleep properly.
Robbie's approach and manner gave me confidence in the treatment - I always feel that he is listening to my feedback, and is observing my body's reactions to his treatments.
Thank you, Robbie!

€I have hypermobility and scoliosis, and can highly recommend Robbie. I stayed pain free for a whole year after his session, and having seen several different osteopaths and chiropractors over the years, I can definitely say that his style is more effective and less painful than any other approach I’ve experienced. I would highly recommend him! ” Angela Dodds, Headteacher

Robbie came to our office and had a session with all of us to get us set up properly in our desks and seating position but also worked on a few of us more who had existing problems....we are all so much more comfortable.. if you work in an office in Edinburgh you should get him round..

Exactly what I didn't know I needed! I found Robbie totally by chance and I'm so glad I did. My neck had seized two days previously and I just wanted someone to fix me. I think I had in mind a nice gentle massage to help with the tension - but what Robbie showed me was how it was my own fear of the perceived pain that was actually hampering my recovery and making me more tense in the end.
It was a much more complete approach than "just a massage." I would not hesitate to recommend Robbie, he's professional, calming and I feel so much better.

I can't recommend Harmonic Osteopathy highly enough... clear information and explanations, first rate treatments in the clinic and achievable home work. After years of shoulder trouble I am pain free and I put it down to the treatment at HO.

I recently attended a Harmonic Massage Course for massage therapists.
When I signed up for the course I knew that it would add value to my sports massage therapy treatments. I have booked Robbie before for Osteopathic appointments and had great results, so I thought I would definitely learn useful things.
What I didn't realise was that I would completely change my approach to treating clients and I have been a therapist for 15 years! The feedback from my clients has been mind-blowing!
I wholeheartedly recommended Robbie and his techniques and will be signing up to any future courses he offers
