Its main use is for letting rooms out for general hire. This followed a substantial refurbishment and re-building programme, aided by a generous National Lottery Grant provided under the Good Causes Scheme of the late 1990's. The Centre evolved out of the existing Victorian premises, which had been owned by St Robert's RC Church for many years, but which had fallen into a state of disrepair through the passage of time.
The building used to be called Our Lady's Villa, and it had served the parishioners of St Robert's for very many years as a focal point for meetings, social events, and parish business. Even the church football team used the Villa, with the basement acting as its changing room on match days, in the times when amateur football was played on The Stray, prior to the completion of the new Jennyfields sports fields' complex in 2000.

Superb venue with accommodating staff. We ran a quiz night for 70 people. More intimate than a big church hall and easier to build a nice atmosphere. We combined the Ripon and York rooms at no additional cost which gave us all the space we needed. Good value for money. Easy to book. Highly recommended. Will certainly come back.
