A homely pub with open fires, excellent food and friendly staff. Lovely big outdoor space for those hot sunny days. Go and enjoy and support the local business.

We were looking forward to a delicious meal, and we weren't disappointed. The table was great, big enough, and distant enough from others, with a view of the outside. We received quick, polite friendly service, food quality of the highest level, and a price that reflected the surroundings and comfortable dining room. We'll be back!

Good manners and polite staff. But considering we were a party of 5 and first in for lunch had to wait so long for food. Had to ask for cutlery when food was brought to the table and also had to ask for condiments. The food itself is not a patch on before Covid ( the last time we went) the Fish finger sandwich was more batter than fish. In fact our boy said Birds Eye fish fingers had more fish. Sad but expensive for what we had in quality.

We stayed there for two nights and ate there Thursday evening. We were warmly welcomed and the room was clean, warm, confortable and very spacious. The evening meal and the breakfasts were delicious and the service was very good. I would highly recommend this place.

Interior is nice. Staff are working very hard. Food is pretty good although I would avoid the sandwiches if I went again. Too rich and /or lacking in interest. And surely Hambletons bread is a must. ? Its only round the corner! Mums hake looked fab though and she enjoyed it. 😉

Stayed for two nights in August. My sister and I are both from Oakham area and it was great to find a hotel which felt like the Rutland of old. Fantastic atmosphere and extremely friendly and helpful staff. Stayed in very large twin which was very well equipped. Bar had a really warm and friendly atmosphere and Guinness was very good! We ate in the restaurant on both evenings and the food was exceptionally good .. cooked freshly and well presented. Breakfast was very tasty ... good choice, catering for all dietary requirements. Overall our stay was very relaxing and we look forward to visiting
