Stayed in one of the self-catering cottages over the Easter holidays. Everything about the cottage is ideal for a family / couple to stay in. The owners are so lovely and couldn't have been more helpful! The location is perfect as nowhere is far in the car. It is brilliant as a base for eating / sleeping etc! I have already recommended Briscoe Lodge to family and friends and we will certainly be using it again! There is no bath in the bathroom, only a shower....so if you have children that will not use a shower then you may have bring some flannels for a good wash....both of my children managed

Amazing place to stay and a very friendly host. The included breakfast is delicious. It's a 7-8 min walk from Windermere train station. Bowness is a 20 min walk. Bus 599 and 555 are available to take you north and south of Windermere. Highly recommended for anyone looking to spend a few days in the Lake District.

An average well-maintained place, Crete for families and couples alike.
The owner of the place is very helpful and hospitable.
Please be respectful of the property and the people who live there, as they are lovely people.
The owner also helped me get my battery boosted on my car from knowing the locals.

After a very long and tiring drive after the M6 was closed, we arrived much later than planned, but it was not a problem for our host for the weekend. We were given such a warm and friendly welcome, we were able to relax very quickly. The room was superbly equipped. The bed very comfortable.
It is located within a level and easy walking distance from the beautiful town of Windermere. Its ideally located to explore the whole of the Lakes.
Bowness is a 25 minute downhill walk. From here, regular passenger ferries go north to Ambleside or south to Lakeside. Regular buses back to Windermere if you
